Yana Alena Carr began her journey on January 6, 2005 in Mission Viejo California. She unexpectedly passed away on July 22, 2024 at the age of 19 in Windsor Colorado.

 

From when she started to walk at 9 months old nothing could ever stop Yana. Throughout her life she was constantly pursuing a new hobby or adventure. Whether it be working on a crochet sweater, to illustrations and stories, to picking up a new instrument Yana never stopped being busy and learning more about this world.

 

Yana was pursuing a degree in jazz trombone through the University of Northern Colorado. She lived for music, taking inspiration from musicians like Thelonious Monk and Herbie Hancock.  She played everything from the tuba to the piccolo. She was a devoted member of the Wheat Ridge high school marching band, jazz band, and winter percussion team.

 

She was a constant light in the world of those around her. She had this energy that could lift the entire room. She was a deeply caring and kind individual. She loved animals, taking care of everything from her two ferrets to her dog Barry and later her pet mice.

 

She is survived by her mother Alena, her father Timothy, and her brother Paul. She also leaves to mourn her grandmother Lilia, her aunts Patricia and Tatiana, and her cousins Sabrina, Marina, and Anastasia as well as countless extended family and close friends. Yana is preceded in death by her grandparents Victor Maksimenka, and Robert and Susan Carr.

I felt a connection between you and my girls, especially with you and Victoria attending WRHS, and you and Alexandra studying Music at UNC. I am unable to attend your services but will pray for you, and your family. Rest gentle in the living arms of our merciful Lord. 🙏🙏🙏

  7. Yana was a wonderful friend to my oldest, Finn, when they were in grade school. There was so much laughter and shenanigans between the two of them. Together they deeply enjoyed Pikachu and Pokémon.
    Our hearts ache for all of you as you face the loss of having her light in your lives on a daily basis. I hope that when you hear music played on the instruments she loved that it will warm your souls and bring you peace. ~~~ Kristin, Finn, and Allie Bailey

  9. I only meet Yana a couple times at the coffee shop. She was very talented, smart and nice to all who meet her.
    My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family during this time of grief.

  11. Yan, your love of music and dedication to it never failed to amaze and inspire me. You inspired me to be a better musician and person every day and it was an honor to play in many ensembles with you.
    I will forever miss your spunky personality. You were a joy to be around and I am so glad I can call you my friend. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories we made together and thank you for being a light in peoples lives.

  14. Oh Yana, my dear cousin. You were such a light in this world. I remember playing with you when were 3 years old at our grandparent’s home. That was also when I met your brother Paul. I know that our time was short lived as you had moved to Colorado, but the best moment of my days were to hear about how you, your brother, your mom and dad were doing. I know that you will be looking down on our family, and you will always been in our hearts. I love you and to my family, may she rest in peace.
