Wilma B. Smit

Wilma B. Smit, 94, died on August 19, 2006, at Swedish Medical Clinic, Denver, Colorado. She was born March 25, 1912, to Sophia and Johnannas Stientjes at Boyden, Iowa. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Milford, Iowa, and was a 54 year member of Chapter MO Spirit Lake PEO. She was married to Alvin J. Smit who predeceased her in death in 1988. She is survived by her son, Duane Smit and his wife Marietta of Windsor, Colorado; her son, Keith Smit and his wife Ruth of Sturgis, South Dakota; one sister Evelyn Rozeboom, of Georgetown, Texas; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Howard Smit, her grandson Jeffrey Smit, and four brothers. Services will be held at the Bullock Mortuary, Englewood, Colorado, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2006. She will be interned at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, Arizona, with her husband, Alvin. A memorial has been established in her name with the Meade School District 46-1 Charitable Trust, PO Box 729, Sturgis, South Dakota, for the benefit of college scholarships.
