Willard died suddenly at home on Sunday, May 26th with Marjorie by his side.  His family will miss their father and grandfather who now is in his heavenly peace and comfort.

A retired pediatric dentist established his practice in the south Denver/Englewood community in 1953.  He was born on May 31, 1926 to Roy and Clara Guard in Aurora, Nebraska.  An active Boy Scout, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  Upon graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Army and attended OCS in Fort Benning, GA.  He graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska and the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry receiving his D.D.S and M.S.D. degrees.

Will was very active in his profession and was a member of Metro Denver Dental Society, Colorado State Dental Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  He organized the Colorado Society of Dentistry for Children, the Colorado Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Rocky Mountain Dental Study Club and the Metropolitan Denver Dental Study Club.  He was a member of the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped and was a proud member of the Shriners of North America, El Jebel Temple in Denver, CO.  He was a noted lecturer and his published research projects on Growth and Development and Orthodontics.

Will and Marjorie have enjoyed a marriage of 63 years.  Their children are Leslie Hannah, Lynne (Lester) Melonakis, Bruce and Andrew (Halley) Guard; the four grandsons Duff Hannah, Peter Matson, Nicholas and Kevin Guard and 2 granddaughters, Brooke and Paige Guard, Will is also survived by his brother Dr. Harold Guard.

Will enjoyed his hunting days and trained his English Setters for the field.  He especially loved to ski with his family and frinds and enjoyed other sports, biking, golf, tennis and sailing.

A Celebration of Will's life will be held on Friday, May 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden Avenue, Cherry Hills Village.  Live streaming for those who are unable to attend can go to: http://www.Bethanylive.org.
