Terrie Jo Merholtz, born September 14, 1948, passed away unexpectly April 1st, 2022. Terrie is preceded in death by her Mother, Margaret Jean Lambert, and Father, Upton X, Furman. She is survived by her loving children Amy Lynn (Kristian) Geiger, Dana Joy (Tom) Stevens, grandchildren Hunter James Stevens, Samuel Alexander Stevens, and great grandson Preston Issac Stevens.
Terrie was born in Davenport Iowa but the family moved to Neenah Wisconsin when she was still small. This is where she lived until she moved to Denver Colorado in 1970, settling there to raise her own new, young family.
Terrie was baptized in her early 20’s and was always so grateful for her relationship with Jesus. She loved attending church and bible studies of all levels.
Terrie was a beloved, compassionate, brave, intelligent, funny and overall outstanding woman. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met, through her sense of humor and generous heart.
She was a graduate of Denver University, graduating top of her class in law and went on to become a state tax attourney for the IRS where she worked for many years.
She loved her cat Mr. P. who never left her side that day or any day previous.
She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to bake and cook. Baking Christmas cookies was a yearly tradition at her house.
She was a baseball and movie fanatic. She introduced us to great films we will cherish forever.
She made many new friends when she moved to Heather Gardens 8 years ago who soon became like family. They played bridge and cards every other day. Going out to eat or to see a movie was also part of her weekly routine. Swimming at the pool was another activity she loved, most likely beginning when she was young as an avid water skier on the many Wisconsin lakes.
Terrie was extremely adventurous and visited Portugal multiple times to spend time with her daughter Amy. RA and getting older didn't stop Terrie, she was even planning to move there later this year.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be on Saturday April 9th at 2pm at Wellspring Church in Englewood

Amy you are truly TerrieĀ“s legacy; beautiful, loving, generous, funny and more than a little sassy. I am so very grateful to both of you for welcoming me into your family here in Portugal and for opportunity to spend time with Terrie. What a brilliant and accomplished lady, confident and and so funny. A woman to admire and be inspired by. We were so looking forward to her moving here to Portugal and many more hours at the pool enlivened as always by TerrieĀ“s commentary; always telling it as she saw it.
