Sherri Lynn Christensen, of Kiowa Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2026 just 2 hours short of her 72nd birthday.
Sherri was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Christensen, her father, John Christensen (Kathy), sister-in-law, Donna Pryor, brother-in-law Gene Sisk. She is survived by her husband, Steve Allison, sister, Debra Sisk, sisters-in-law Diana Seurer (Gary), and Barbara Tumbleson. Her aunt, Jody Armstrong, cousins Steve Armstrong (Carleen), Jeff Armstrong (Kim), Kathy Madsen (Jared), John Christensen (Jerri), Linda Burton (Greg), Bill Christensen (Sherry), Her aunt, Dotte Christensen, cousins Shona Christensen, Anna Lorenzo, Genevieve Beise (Rocky), John Forsyth and Jeff Forsyth. Nephews, Andy and Bryan Sisk.
Sherri was born on June 25, 1954, in Quantico, Virginia to Connie and Jack Christensen, while her father was stationed there serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Sherri had a great love for horses that began at a very young age. She was on a pony before she could walk. She especially liked to work with challenging and misunderstood horses that most people would give up on and adopted 2 rescue horses that were both missing an eye. Sherri and her sister Deb shared this love and had many horse adventures together throughout the years.
Sherri graduated from George Washington High School in 1972. She attended Colorado State University for 3 years before pursuing a career in law enforcement. In 1987, while working as a security supervisor for King Soopers, Sherri trained at Camp George West in Golden, CO for placement on their hiring list for selection by Denver Metro Law Enforcement agencies. She placed high on the list of police officer candidates and was hired by Englewood PD on 10/5/87. She served the citizens of Englewood until her retirement on 6/30/09. Sherri’s career included assignments with street patrol, impact team and bicycle patrol, 5 years as a detective and she became a certified Swat team negotiator. Sherri was well respected by her peers and won numerous awards for exceptional performance and service.
Sherri was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive liver cancer in 2023. She chose to go the holistic route in her treatment and worked very hard to maintain her health. While the doctors told her the cancer would spread everywhere, she managed to contain it to the liver and had a very good quality of life for 2 ½ years. Unfortunately, she eventually lost the battle.
Steve and Sherri enjoyed their retirement years living the country life in Elizabeth and Kiowa.

My wonderful cousin Sherri has been part of my life and lives forever, not just in memories, but now reunited with loved ones and the Savior. From picnics at Estes Park with Sherri holding my hand to steady my two year old walk to our last visit with Deb and Steve at their home walking through the barn and greenhouse, Sherri has always brought such joy and pride. Her life has been amazing and I have marveled that she has always been able to face her challenges with determination and her trademark smile. I see Sherri even now as a cowgirl racing through barrels at the little britches rodeos, sleeping with Deb on the range with her Grandpa Duncan, spying on shoplifters from her security team perch at King Soopers, sitting through turkey dinners on Thanksgiving at the kids table, and getting a Christmas Card and pictures of Doc and another lucky horse rescued by the Sherri/Deb/Steve three amigos. And most of all admiring her picture with my own family on grandma Chris’ end table. My kids would smile with familiarity as my dad, (Sherri’s uncle Bill) would say always say “that’s your cousin Sherri, she’s a cop you know” and grandma would say “she is so good looking, like a movie star”. I will miss you forever Sherri, until we meet again. God bless you and keep you. And God bless Deb and Steve. Thinking of you all.
Sherri and I met about 40 yrs ago when we boarded our horses at the same stables. She had Goofy and I had Maria. I was new to horse ownership and developed an enormous respect for her knowledge and our friendship.
Sherri was a super, all around special person. I was so grieved to hear of her passing and want to extend my sincere sympathy to Steve and her family.

Dear Debra and Steve ,
Sherri was my first friend and the cousin right after me. Most of my earliest memories are of fun times with her- fishing, picking up rocks, dancing on the big rock at grandma’s and watching her ride beautiful horses.
I know we will meet each other again and the reunion will be sweet.

Turns out we were right!! I was proud to call her sister and friend. Her love for her pets was beyond compare. Their dog Bofus, her horses Doc and Goofy. Their lose devastated Sherri
As we are devastated with her loss. They are all together now. One of the best things Sherri did,
besides marrying my brother, was bringing her sister Debra and Gene into our lives.
God gave us a memory so we could have roses in December….may we all find peace in each loving memory of Sherri, her smile and her love for everyone. Our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners
will now have an empty seat but I’m sure she will be here in spirit and watching over us all!
She will missed and forever in our “broken” hearts! All our love and support to Steve and Debra.
