Sharon Kay Nelson
August 26, 1950 ~ November 20, 2017
Surrounded by her family, Sharon Kay Nelson of Springfield, Colorado, passed away on November 20, 2017 in Aurora, Colorado at the University of Colorado Hospital. Sharon was known by all as a courageous, independent woman, with a strong personality and most of all a big heart. She had many great accomplishments in life, but her proudest moments were of being a mother. She loved telling everyone how proud she was of her son and was always his biggest fan rooting him on not only during sports games, but in life. In more recent years, Sharon loved being a great aunt and grandmother. Her face lit up everytime she told stories of them and when she heard Adelyn call her "Gwamma", even up until the very end. Born on August 26, 1950, in LaJunta, Colorado, she was the daughter of Donald Robert and Julia Ann Stiner. Sharon is survived by her son Casey, his wife Alissa and granddaughter Adelyn of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her brother Bob and his wife Bonnie of Pueblo, CO. Sharon is survived by many other extended family members and siblings including Kim Fowler, Judy Ennis, Deborah Dwinell, Brenda Argo, Larry Miller, Buckshot Eikleberry, Dennis Chastine, and Beman Chastine. Sharon was a loving Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and a friend that will deeply be missed. In honor of her wishes of not wanting a traditional service, we will be celebrating Sharon's life on Friday December 8, 2017 with a luncheon at 11:30 am in Springfield, Colorado at the Longhorn Restaurant.
