Sharon Ann Sekerak
August 6, 1944 to April 10, 2022
Sharon Ann Sekerak was born in Denver, August 6, 1944 to Michael and Lorraine Sekerak. She was their first born, her brother, Steven was born two years later. Sharon was preceded in death by Steven in 1987, her dear mother in 1991, and her beloved father in 2017.
Sharon worked for the City and County of Denver for fifty years, the majority at the Denver Police Department. She was very well known throughout the police department and the city offices. A constant refrain was “Everybody knows Sharon.”
Sharon was fiercely dedicated to two organizations associated with the Denver Police Department: the Denver Police Orphans’ Fund and the Denver Police Officers’ Foundation. Sharon never married and had no children, but in her heart, every member of the police department and their families were her family.
Sharon’s legacy is her love, generosity and devotion in that unselfish, endless caring for her immediate family and for the entire DPD family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to one of these organizations that were so near and dear to her.

Im sad to see that Sharon died. She was a force and knew so much about the running of the department I dont how many chiefs and division chiefs she worked for. I know my dad liked and respected her. I liked Sharon, if I asked her for help she would always find the answers. She did not have patience for incompetence which I think was a good trait. I am sorry to for her familys loss. Amy
I am so sorry to learn that Sharon has passed away. I met Sharon 50 years ago as an 18 year old Cadet when I was assigned to the Technical Services Division. She was notorious and I was forewarned by fellow Cadets that "Division Chief" Sharon would eat me for lunch. I was terrified. Contrary to her image, I discovered a completely different side of her. So many fond memories of time spent with Sharon…office parties at Laffite"s, her famous green chile, Squad Four, going to Denver Broncos games with her and her brother. She was fiercely loyal to those she held close to her heart…especially her Dad, brother Steve, and the DPD. I am so grateful for our friendship and will never forget her.
God has called another Angel home. Her wings and crown were waiting. If there is work to be done in Heaven, I know SHARON WILL BE RIGHT THERE GIVING HER ALL. My thoughts and prayers are for all whom she left behind.

I met Sharon while I was a young police officer on the DPD, my first impression was a can do kind of person. She was definitely that in all the later years that I knew her. I appreciated her toughness and that signature kindness. May the Lord bless you Sharon.

Sharon was a great supporter of the officers on the Debver PD during and after her career! She will be missed.
Sharon Sekerak was the first female civilian call taker in the DPD radio room, hired in 1964. She worked for more chiefs than any other officer or civilian, and directly or indirectly, she insured the success of the police mission and the good reputation of the City and County of Denver. She was the consummate professional in accomplishing her work, and she took pride in helping as many officers and civilians as she could. May she rest in the eternal peace she has earned.
Sharon was a long time friend and a solid employee at the police department. I had the opportunity to work with her my last year there, and her energy and attention to detail was remarkable. She handled any assignment I brought her with professionalism and I could count on her as part of the team at any time. In 1992 she was nominated for Employee of the Year in the City and County of Denver and won the honor. After I retired, Sharon completed 50 years employment with the city and was honored for her achievement. She will always be remembered as a tireless worker and a take charge person when necessary and CeCe and I were very sorry to see her retirement was cut so short after a series of unfortunate accidental injuries. She will truly be missed. God bless you Sharon.
Well what can I say other than Sharon was like a sister to me and part of our family, having known her for 50 years or more. I talked with Sharon weekly and planned many things "that had to be done". Just the Friday before she called to say Erickson Memorial had finished adding the updated officers names to the DPD Memorial which she kept up to date yearly. Sharon is the Reason we have the memorial celebrations having coordinated from the beginning. The DPD family and her mom, dad, and aunt were all her family. We learned from Deacon Parker at her funeral Monday that Sharon for years had a mass said weekly for DPD. Our children knew Sharon growing up as part of our family always looking forward to the Orphan's Christmas Party which Sharon was a major part of , we know have our Grand Children and Great Grand Children looking forward to going every year. As an original board member of the Denver Police Officers Foundation Sharon continued her duties of sending Fruit Baskets, Funeral Flowers and Cards to the officers or their family members until the day she passed. Sharon was very much loved, will be missed, but will never be forgotten. We thank Rhonda and Michelle for having such a wonderful funeral and reception for Sharon. I know Sharon would be very proud. Sharon is definitely in Heaven watching over us
