Shane Ian Vander Meulen

October 18, 1987 ~ November 19, 2013
On Tuesday, November 19th, this world lost one of it's truly beautiful souls. Shane Ian Vander Meulen, who was born on October 18, 1987, left us far too soon for anyone to comprehend. Shane was only 26 years young. He is survived by his mother Patti Brunger, father Bruce Vander Meulen, brother Cassidy Vander Meulen, and sister Kelsey Schmal. Shane was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Centennial. He attended Littleton High School, where he was a star lacrosse player. He had just began pursuing his dream of becoming a carpenter. As anyone who knew him would attest, Shane made a lifelong impression on all of those that his life touched. He will be remembered for his pure, unbiased kindness, his generous love, his amazingly caring heart, his passion for music, for what can only be described as his soul-shine and quite simply for his infectious smile. In his generosity he often put the needs of those he loved and cared for before his own. Shane will hold an eternal piece of all of our hearts. Mourning his loss, an angel sings from a guitar. His spirit will live in all of us and his energy will illuminate our paths in the darkest of nights.
Immediately following the services, the family has invited everyone for a gathering at the home of Kelsey Schmal, 8414 Bed Straw Street, Parker, Colorado 80134.
Kelsey, and the entire family,
I cannot imagine the unbearable pain you all are in right now and I just want to say I am so so sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts.
I went to college with Kelsey.
Sincerely,
Jessica Hasslinger
Patti, Bruce, Cassidy and Kelsey,
We're all thinking of the memories of your precious baby boy and trying to come to believe what has happened and realizing that things will never be the same. Shane always had a smile between his chubby cheeks and always full of love for everybody.
May the reassurance of God's everlasting love start to heal broken hearts and in time give peace.
We cry and hurt for you all, much love and sincerest sympathy is sent.
We here at the VA Laboratory want to express our heartfelt sympathies to
Bruce, Patti, Kelsey and the rest of Shane's family for the terrible and sudden loss. Many of us remember when Shane would come here to pick up and he was always smiling and happy. His time on this earth was way too short. Our hearts go out to all of you.
Word's cannot express the sadness we feel for you, Kelsey, Cassidy and your entire family in dealing with this heartache. As you grieve know that we are thinking of you and honoring Shane's memory.
Although it's difficult to see beyond the sorrow today, may looking back at memories be of comfort knowing that those memories become a true treasure. Shane will be forever in your hearts.
Please accept our most heartfelt sympathy for your profound loss and we pray God's love will hold you close during your journey of grief.
Peace, Prayers and Blessings.

To Shane's family myself and everyone at Southwest Airlines would like to say we are sorry for your loss. I myself would like to say that I will always remember Shane coming into our office with his great smile. I was just remembering the other day about what a great smile and how friendly he always was when he came into our office, he always seemed to make the room fill up with a joy and happiness, we will miss seeing his face but will never forget him. I always think that the people that pass before us live on in our hearts and memory, especially the good one's that touch our lives in a good way. I know we will always keep him in our thoughts.
We pray for your comfort and peace in this time of grief. Words cannot express how deep our sorrow for your family. Shane rests at peace and his love for you will live on in your hearts for eternity.
Till we meet again young friend.
