Santo "Doc" Scavuzzo

 

Doc was born in Chicago, Illinois. On December 1, 1919. He was a first-generation American and loved his country. He served in both the United States Army and Navy during World War II. At the age of 40, to provide a better life for his family, he sold his dental practice in Chicago and, with his wife Laverne, they started over in Littleton. He was active in Colorado men's softball and was eventually elected into the United States National Softball Hall of Fame. He was a family man, coach, and dentist, charitable donator to his Catholic Church and Mullen High School, 32° Mason and Shriner. He is survived by Laverne (his wife of 70 years) and his four children, Janet Scavuzzo, Tom, Frank and Chuck. His 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren will miss their "Papa".  

Recitation of the Rosary will be at All Souls Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 30th at 9:00 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial will follow the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy and the All Veterans Honor Guard.
