Samantha Angela McLeod
June 10, 1987 ~ March 19, 2023
Samantha Angela McLeod, 35, of Denver, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on Sunday,
March 19th, 2023. Samantha was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on June 10, 1987. She
graduated from Madison Central High School in 2005 and then attended Mississippi State
University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. Samantha
fulfilled a big dream and moved to Denver, Colorado in 2010.
Throughout her fourteen year teaching career, Samantha impacted the lives of countless
exceptional children and their families. It was through teaching that she met her beautiful
daughter, Nevelynn, whom she adopted in September of 2020, after many years of love and
care. In addition to being passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, she loved
music, camping, being on the lake, and being surrounded by friends and loved ones. Samantha
gave the world her light and love, and she will be remembered for her tenacity and welcoming
spirit to all.
Samantha is survived by: her daughter Nevelynn; her parents Teresa Burgess (Brian Wilbourne)
and Stuart Burgess; her siblings Anna McLeod, Peyton (Abby) Burgess, Parker Burgess
(Kirsten Jones), and David McLeod II; grandparents Sam and Angie Moore as well as many
loved cousins, aunts, uncles, and lifelong friends.
Samantha was preceded in death by her father Mark McLeod and grandparents Melba and
David McLeod.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on April 3rd, 2023, at Camp Bratton-Green in
Canton, Mississippi. Samantha’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations on

Well my darling daughter from another mother 😢 my heart breaks that you have gone, I pray for Nevie and your family . I thank God that the opportunity was presented for me to tell you I loved you the day before the news. I will forever love you and I'll never ever forget your way of calling me momma. I am grateful that you thought of me as your momma and you baby girl will forever be my daughter . Fly high my Angel . Your memory will forever live
