Born in:
Glasgow, Scotland
Resided in:
Denver, Colorado
Rosalie Ann June Lund passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025 in Denver, CO at the age of 94.
Rosalie was born in Glasgow, Scotland to parents Catherine and Andrew Guy, the youngest of eight children.
As a child during WWII, Rosalie was evacuated out of the city to the Scottish countryside near Eaglesham for many months. Upon her return to Glasgow, she witnessed air raids and bombing from the tenement shelter, emerging in the morning to hunt for shrapnel souvenirs amid the rubble.
Rosalie emigrated to Colorado in 1956 where she later met her husband William Edward Lund, who preceded her in death in 2020. Married in 1959, Bill and Rosalie raised their two sons Guy and Michael in east Denver.
Rosalie was a life-long tennis player, enjoying the game into her 80s. Her love for watching the Grand Slam tournaments was only rivaled by her fanatical devotion to the Denver Broncos, whose players and coaches she adopted as family.
During Sunday afternoon and Monday night Bronco games, Rosalie could be found knitting in front of the TV, occasionally pausing to cheer or jeer the triumphs and defeats of her beloved team. She lovingly knitted baby garments for all the wee bairns in her life, friends and family alike, and spent many hours teaching the craft to her children and grandchildren.
After her sons had grown, Rosalie returned to work with Hunt Oil Company, where she worked until she retired in 1996. Rosalie loved her work with Hunt and the cherished friendships she made there lasted beyond her retirement and into her final days.
Rosalie never let go of her Scottish heritage. Throughout the years, she would recite poems, songs and sayings from her beloved Scotland, teaching them to her children and grandchildren. Perhaps the greatest tradition she passed down was her family shortbread recipe, which endures as a favorite whenever it is served.
Rosalie met the challenges of her Alzheimer’s diagnosis with aplomb, grace, and smiles. She lived at the Gardens of St. Elizabeth in north Denver for the last five years. While there, she consistently kept up with her daily walks, exercises, puzzles, and especially enjoyed sharing an evening martini with Michael during his visits.
Rosalie is survived by her son Michael, son Guy and daughter-in-law, Nancy, two grand-daughters Stephanie Parkinson (Christian) and Alison Curry (Adam), and two great grand-daughters, Olive and Jade Parkinson.
A private family service has been planned for Saturday August 16, followed by an open house to gather and remember Rosalie from 1:00-4:00 pm at 12995 S. Molly Ct., Parker, CO 80134. Rosalie has asked that instead of flowers, donations can be sent to Fanconi Cancer research through the Kendall and Taylor Atkinson (KATA) Foundation.
How fortunate Dan and I were to enjoy the friendship of Rosalie and Bill during their winters in Tucson. We joyfully remember Rosalie’s beautiful smile and delightful accent. She was always upbeat and fun. We thank the family for caring for her so well after Bill’s passing. We often got updates from Marilyn. She lived a long, meaningful life on earth and we believe this life continues in the here after. Linda and Dan Greeley
