Robert Michael Savidge
March 3, 1953 ~ July 11, 2019
Robert Michael Savidge was born on March 3,1953 in Scotsbluff, Nebraska to Robert Leroy Savidge and Wanda Mae Savidge (Rukavina). He and his two brothers Dan and Anthony grew up in Lakewood, Colorado. During their childhood, they spent a great deal of time in Nebraska with their grandparents hunting, fishing and helping out around the ranch. Robert attended Holy Family High School where he soared through math and art classes, was a member of the Golden swim team, and took martial arts classes. He met many friends during his teen years that became life long friendships. As a young adult, he enjoyed creating stained glass pieces and sketching. He also spent many nights working with his Godfather, Mario, at Mario's Restaurant in downtown Denver where his mother was an opera singer.
He met the mother of his children, Valerie Little, when he was 20 years old and they were soon married. They had three children together, Kristy, Jolene and Ryan. They eventually settled in Arvada, Colorado where Robert utilized his Master Electrician's License and started his own electrical contracting business. He was a perfectionist, took pride in his work and expected only the best work from his employees, and most of all, from himself. As a father, he was dedicated to making sure his family was happy, safe, comfortable and entertained. He taught his children the importance of creating quality work and how to be independent.
As an adult, he enjoyed golfing, reading science fiction books, building and racing RC cars, and playing poker with his friends. He enjoyed taking care of his house plants, his orchids, and his yard filled with flowers, vegetables, and grape vines. Most of all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family. His favorite holiday was Christmas, and he always made sure to pick out the best gifts. He loved to camp and go fishing, he loved to watch the Broncos play football and to host a barbecue. He loved going out for sushi and to see the newest, loudest movie with his brother. He loved his wife. He loved to take care of people. He became a grandfather in 2002 and continued to support his children as they started their own families. He loved to spoil his grandchildren with sweets and toys and impersonations of Donald Duck.
For nearly 30 years, the AA community played an important role in Robert's life while he worked on his sobriety. He made many friends and supporters. Providing service for this community was very important to him.
Robert Savidge touched the lives of so many people, he never missed an opportunity to be a good friend, father and brother. He was so proud of his family and would tell everyone he met about them, the love he had for his family never wavered. It is believed by some that he ultimately died of a broken heart at the loss of his only son over 7 years ago. He liked to joke around that he was a Mean Old Man, but Robert's heart was made of gold.
