Survived by her family in Greece; Brother, Nicko; sisters, Kalliope and Stavroula; nicece, Maria and nephew, Yianni. Rena Irene Geroyan December 9, 1939 to February 20, 2013 Born in Patra Achaia, Greece to the parents of Olga Sarganatani and Georgios Geroyiannopoulos with her brother Nicko and sisters Stravoula and Kalliope. Rena was a very happy and playful child; she played the violin and accelerated in her studies. She was the FIRST woman to be accepted into the school of Mining and Engineering in Greece where she earned and a Bachelor of Arts in Metallurgical Engineering and graduated second in her class. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Mining Engineering. She worked for the Greek Government during a difficult political environment. In 1968 Rena left Greece for the wonderful opportunities America had to offer her. She wasted no time becoming fluent in the English language and was soon accepted to the prestigious Colorado School of Mines where she studied Economic Evaluation and Investment Decisions. She obtained her "Professional Engineer" designation from the State of Colorado. Rena was a pioneer for women in the field of mining and engineering. Rena was an amazing friend, beloved daughter and sister, treasured Aunt, faithful co-worker and Patriot, angelic singer and so much more.
