Phillip Gregory Thomas

February 23, 1994 ~ May 28, 2022
Phillip was born on February 23rd 1994. His
birth was dramatic and as a result he was
diagnosed with spastic quadruplegic cerebral
palsy which affected most of the physical
functions of his body. Despite all the trials of
having a disability Phillip grew into a happy,
curious, compassionate, smart young man with
a wicked sense of humor and a head of fiery
red hair.
Phillip had many adventures in his short life:
rock climbing in Eldorado canyon, whitewater
rafting down Clear Creek, sailing across the
Cherry Creek Reservoir, and his favorite of all
was riding horses. Thank you Adam's Camp!
Adventures with his tribe were never-ending. So
many concerts big and small, Broncos and
Rockies games , museums, parks, and
community fairs . Any excuse to
be out and about. He enjoyed having the sun
on his face and working around in the garden
with Mom and Dad.
Phillip graduated from Jefferson High School in
2013. He received a letter in academics and a
letterman's jacket. His classmates voted him
Prom King. His parents were so proud of him
and will always be grateful to the class of 2013
for looking past his wheelchair.
Phillip has met many sports figures musicians
and comedians …people have always been
drawn to him and his inner light. Animals are
especially drawn to him and he loved animals,
as well.
On May 28th at 5:28am at the age of 28 Phillip
moved on to his new adventure with his loving
parents holding him tight as he took his last
breath and they all watched
his final sunrise together.
Phillip is survived by his loving
parents/caregivers Paul and Caryn Thomas; his
grandmother Barbara Thomas; Aunts Wendy
Jones (Jerry), Penny Harlow (Anthony), Julene
Thomas, Gailee; Uncle Steve Thomas( Maria);
Cousins Samantha, Nashwa, Tyler , Craig ,
Marcy Michael and Makayla; and adopted Big
Brother Randy, Mama Heather, Knowing,
Beekon and Stellar Zaccardo.
Those who were there to greet him with open
arms in Heaven include Grandpa and Grandma
Wittig, Grandpa Thomas and his 2 service
dogs Denali and Princess Jazmine.
We are the sad ones, but we know deep in our
sorrow, that he is truly happy and at peace ,
he can now sing at the top of his
lungs, dance ,run and most of all he is FREE.
Fly high Little Eagle...

This is the video that was created for Phillip
Our Dental team knew both Paul & Caryn when they were first together. When they bought their first house in Edgewater got married and when they became pregnant. They were so very well matched….when Phillip was born and it became clear that his challenges would be lifelong. Anyone looking in on their little family would know just how perfectly matched they were. We saw them often and witnessed their love for their son. No "feel sorry for me" came from their lips….perhaps an " I'm tired" Phillip is sick and we cannot let him get pneumonia, so we have to turn him often. They still laughed, lived & gave their son every experience possible
Most importantly Phillip lived in a home filled with love. Phillips' life was such a beautiful example of unconditional love. Sometimes our journey is not just about us.. but about those that surround us….we teach them just by being who we are. Much love to you both Caryn & Paul
RIP Phillip
