Peggy A. Stewart
March 1, 1942 ~ July 21, 2024
In loving memory Peggy Stewart, 82, passed away peacefully at home July 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born in Oklahoma as one of seven children. Her family lived in several states as her father worked in the oilfield industry. They settled finally in Wyoming where Peggy graduated from Natrona High School. It was in Casper, Wyoming that Peggy met the love of her life, Jim (and his ’58 Corvette.) They married in 1962 and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. After the birth of their daughter and then their son three years later, they moved from Casper to Denver where they made their home.
After raising children for a few years, Peggy returned to work, first in the insurance industry and then finding her lifelong career as a cosmetologist, where she built and maintained a large clientele until her retirement. Peggy joined Jim (an expert builder of classic and hot rod cars) in his love of cars. As part of the Denver car community, you would see Jim and Peggy with one of their many cars at shows all summer. Jim built two trucks for Peggy and found her treasured Mustang convertible. He was the maintenance guy. She was the proud owner.
A social butterfly, Peggy loved all her customers and co-workers at the salon, and they loved her. And you would always see her chitchatting at car events. She told many a story to a vast audience. Peggy and Jim traveled around the country and particularly enjoyed taking cruises and trips with family and friends. She was in her element at a good party. Peggy was so excited when her grandchildren arrived and loved each one of them with all her heart. She was affectionately known as “Peg” to a couple of her grandchildren, a term of endearment she cherished.
Peggy is survived by husband Jim, daughter Paula (Jeff) and son Jimmy (Rhonda), and grandchildren Perri, Christopher, James and Matthew.
A celebration of life will be set in September 2024.
