Norma June Repair
I, Norma June Meadows, was born September 18, 1934 in Texarkana, Texas on a bed of hay in my grandfather, Carl Hackett's, blacksmith shop. My father was a butcher in my grandparents Meadows grocery store, while my mother was a housewife.
When I was four years old, my mother went to work as a tailor, learning to cut suits from a bolt of cloth and then sewing them together. As I grew older, my father developed arthritis and had to give up butchering, but went driving a bus/taxi where he would not be on his feet a lot. While my mother worked days and my father nights, I went to school, and stayed with my two grandparents. At the age of 13, my father passed away, so my mother and I moved to a garage apartment and then into a duplex.
I started roller-skating at a rink on the Arkansas side. Since my mother was with me every night, she started working the concession stand while I skated. There was a group of us who would travel on the weekends to a portable rink owned by people we were acquainted with. The portable rink covered a four state area: Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
In February 1951, I met Robert M. Repair (Bob.) He was an MP in the Army, stationed at the Red River Arsenal about 25 miles from my home. One of his duties was to patrol the rinks, bowling alleys, or any place a soldier might be. He started a conversation with my mother about me, not knowing I was her daughter. This happened several times before I skated up to her and called her "Mother." He was so embarrassed, he took off. "Mother" had not told him I was her daughter. Soon after, we had our first date. We went to the movies. Several times we double dated with my mother and her Army boyfriend.
In November 1951, I married Robert M. Repair (Bob) at my aunt's home. Several seeks later, he was discharged from the Army and we went to his home in Baltimore, Maryland to live. We were there for nine months before moving back to Texas where Bob went to work for the Dr. Pepper Co. We continued to skate and travel the four state area together.
In 1956 we moved to Denver, Colorado with our six month old son, Robert G. Repair (Rusty.) Bob went back to work for the Glenn L. Martin Co. until he retired in 1990. In 1959 we added another son to the family, William Scott Repair (Scott,) and in 1969 we had a daughter, Mar-Lee Ann Repair.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 7th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Bullock Colonial Chapel. Interment to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Hi, we were June's neighbor (2 doors down). What can we say about June. She was the sweetest, kindest person we knew. We used to love to stop by and visit with her and she enjoyed our little dog and our daughter Raelynn. It didn't matter what type of day we were all having, but a smile from June always put things in perspective and made the day that much brighter. We moved to CA at the first part of June and we feel fortunate that before we left we got to visit and spend time with her. Here it is the Holiday's and we are finally settled in our home and we wanted to wish June a Merry Christmas not knowing we would find out that she left us. So with that being said, we are broken hearted but happy she is a peace. Merry Christmas to you in heaven June, without a doubt Heaven gained one of the most precious Angels.
