Nelle M. Fickel
Nelle Mae Fickel, 105, was born March 6, 1913 in Jerico Springs, Missouri to David Frank Ward and Myrtle E. (McClendon) Ward. She was married to Charles Fickel for 65 years. Charles passed away June 15, 2002. Nelle served on the board of the Episcopal Church in California. She was the National Secretary for the March of Dimes during the polio outbreak. One of her "Claims to fame" was being the oldest woman to kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland at the age of 92. Nelle passed away at the Mapleton Care Center in Lakewood on April 6, 2018. She is survived by her daughter Judith Koehler and her 2 grandsons Steve and Tim Koehler.
Services were held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Denver on April 18, 2018 immediately followed by inurnment at St. Michael's Yard at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
