Nancy W Milligan, 89, passed away February 25, 2013 at Porter Hospice, Littleton Colorado. She was a caring daughter, mother, friend and supporter of many causes including the United Nations Association of Denver, Washington Park United Church of Christ and Environment Colorado. Nancy was born in Murray, Kentucky November 4, 1923. She is survived by her four children; Mark Ensner, David Ensner, Constance Ensner, Tim Ensner. Four step children; Kathleen Milligan, Stacia Johnston, Debi Milligan, Stuart Milligan. Nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy attended Murray State College, KY and was the first "Miss Murray State" elected by the student body in 1942. In 1942, she left Murray to work for the U.S. Air Force at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. While there she had the opportunity to meet and number of well-known people including Orville Wright, Clark Gable and other celebrities. After World War II, Nancy moved to Seoul, South Korea where she worked in the office of Foreign Affairs; which subsequently became the South Korean State Department. She returned to the U.S. in 1950 and married Stephen Ensner. The couple moved to Boulder, Colorado and built their family of four children, Mark, David, Constance and Timothy. The family then moved to Lahore, Pakistan. After a year and half in Pakistan, Nancy returned to Denver, Colorado where she and Stephen were divorced shortly after. In 1965, Nancy married Charles Milligan, a professor at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. They were married 46yrs until Charles passed away in June 2011. She became the Executive Director of the United Nations Association in Colorado, where for 25 years she led study tours to India, Bhutan Nepal, China, Philippines, Soviet Union (Dushanbe-Boulder's Sister City), Africa (Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa). Nancy and Charles also traveled to Central and Eastern Europe, South America (Brazil, Peru-Machu Picchu), and Central America (Mexico, Costa Rica). She was involved in many international events and major UN conferences including: The United Nations Earth Conference in Brazil in 1992. 70's Women's Decade - Mexico City- Regional ICA Women in Development 1974 - 1975 International House UN 1979 Americans Imprisoned in Iran 1987 World Issues Forum - World Hunger, Disarmament, Human Rights SID LWV - 80's Environment Communities of Aspiration Nancy was passionate about social justice and a woman who traveled internationally before many others of her generation. We will miss her dearly, her spirit will live on in our hearts.
