Nancy Ruth Kauss
Nancy Ruth Kauss (born July 2, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin), passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2018, from a pulmonary embolism. Nancy was much loved and will be dearly missed. Nancy is survived by her beloved life partner of 38 years Henry Martinez, brothers, William George Kauss, Randall (Randy) Jerome Kauss, sister Mary Carol Kauss Reeves (husband Robert), aunt Nancy Ware Beard, uncles Dr. Robert Ware (aunt Margarete Ware), Russell Ware Esq (aunt Connie Ware), aunt Carol Kauss, and nephews, Roger Kauss, Austin Reeves, Michael Reeves, niece Kerrie Kauss Sheedy (husband Mark), and great niece Charlotte Sheedy. She also leaves two deeply loved cats, Coco and Cinnamon, and the memory of her kitty of 23 years Crystal. Nancy was preceded to Heaven by her mother, Yvonne (Vonnie) M. Ware Kauss and her father Dr. Theodore R. Kauss, who we know were thrilled to be reunited with her. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Gertrude (Gertie) Steltz Kauss, and Jerome and Ruth Johnson Ware, as well as uncles George Kauss, Colonel John Beard, and aunt Germaine Kauss.
Nancy very much loved her family, friends, cats, and particularly her cousins. She remained close to her Aunt Germaine’s children, cousin’s James and Robert Burlington from Coral Gables, FL, and Jackie Anderson from Milwaukee, WI. Also, she loved vacationing at the Beard-Ware-Kauss summer home on Bass Lake, Wisconsin with cousins Anita, David, Vicki, Robby, Laura, Bobby, and Jack. Her best friend growing up was her Uncle George’s daughter, Karen Kauss Olsen. Karen, her sister Lynn and brother Ken, along with Karen’s Husband, Mike Olsen, were also very special to her.
Nancy had numerous friends from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Deerfield, Illinois, Shreveport, Louisiana and Denver, Colorado. She attended Louisiana State University and Colorado Institute of Art. Nancy was a dedicated Estee’ Lauder employee at Macy’s Southglenn for 30 years and truly enjoyed beautifying her loyal customers.
Nancy was an extremely talented artist (Please click the tribute wall on the top of this page to view one of her pieces of art) and songwriter (like Vonnie and Randy).
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 28, in Centennial, Colorado. In honor of Nancy’s memory, please hug your family.
I heard the news at the cabin. Where I remember Nancy's amazing swimming. She always made me laugh, and was so kind to me, including me with the “ big cousins” when I was little.
Nancy was such a sweet person. She always remembered me at Christmas with a gift. She & Henry made such a cute couple. I know she will be greatly missed.
Thank you Vicki….we are all so sad. Love, Mary
