Milet 'Jean' Ford

Born November 22, 1942 in Columbia, South Carolina passed away July 7, 2010 in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 67.


Jean was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. Jean married Dr. Howard F. Ford in Monterey, California on June 24, 1967. Jean and Howard just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Jean graduated from San Jose State University in California with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree. Jean used her college degree to become a First Grade school teacher. Jean and Howard moved from California to Colorado in August of 1967. After moving to Colorado, Jean continued to teach First Grade at Sable Elementary and also helped Howard in his dental practice.


Jean stopped teaching in 1970 and took on a new, exciting job as a mother. Brian Howard Ford was born in Wheatridge, CO on January 15, 1970. On August 30, 1972, in Denver, CO, Jean and Howard welcomed Anne Emilie Ford. Jean was very active with Brian and Anne. Jean was a Cub Scout Leader, Brownie Troop Leader, Girl Scout Troop Leader and was involved with many of their extracurricular activities. Jean was very proud of her children and was a wonderful mother.


Jean had a great love for quilting and became a very skilled and talented quilter. She was involved with many quilt bee's and quilt clubs. Jean also taught various quilt classes with her most 'popular' class being about feed sacks. Jean was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of feed sacks. Jean also enjoyed her card stamping club, her Bag Lady Club and the Red Hats Club. Jean always looked forward to time with her friends.


Jean and Howard, together, loved to take 'day trips' and go antiquing! Jean loved to look and find those hidden treasures. Jean and Howard enjoyed art, traveling, and were looking forward to moving into their new house in Heritage Eagle Bend. Jean and Howard also loved to spend time with family and friends.


Jean is survived by: Husband, Howard, of Aurora, CO. Son, Brian, of Phoenix, AZ. Daughter, Anne, and Significant Other, Chet Beschorner, of Parker, CO. Sister, Rita Calvin, and Brother-in-Law, Don Calvin, of Alexandria, VA. Nieces, Catherine Calvin, of Washington D.C., and Christina Calvin, of Houston, TX. Jean is also survived by close Ford Family relatives, Mary and Ron McPheeters, of Pueblo, CO, and Roberta and Harvey Guest, of Palisade, CO, Barbara and Bob Wattenberg, of Henderson, CO, and Dick and Mary Lou Perry of TX.


Jean will be remembered at a 'Gathering of Friends' on August 7, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Jean and Howard's home. 23381 E. Phillips Place, Aurora, CO 80016.
