Mildred Wykstra

 Milly Wykstra, 93, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2011 at the Clermont Park Living Center, Denver, Colorado. She was born on July 25, 1917 in Pella, Iowa, to a baker and his wife.

After attending D.U. and receiving certification at CSU as an Early Childhood Specialist, Milly began teaching preschool. Following that, she became one of forty Educational Coordinators in the government sponsored Head Start program. Over the years Milly visited schoolrooms and evaluated teachers all over the United States.

Milly married Connie Wykstra in 1940. They were married for 58 years until Connie's death in 1998 . Connie worked as a detective for the Denver Police Department. Three children made the family complete. John, retired military living in Georgia; Judy, a retired teacher like her mother in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Jim, a police officer in Aurora working as a resource officer for Seniors. She also has six grandchildren all married with eleven great grandchildren.

Milly's life has been devoted to God, family, friends, and the hundreds of children she touched along the way.

Visitation will be at Bullock Mortuary, 6-8 pm Friday May 27th. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday May 28th at Clermont Park Living Center.
