Michael Ray Fisher, Sr., Vietnam veteran, History Channel enthusiast, martial arts master extraordinaire, a  modest artist, and loyal Broncos’ fan, passed away at  Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs, on Wednesday,  November 10, 2021, after a courageous battle with  COVID-19.

Mike was born April 30th, 1944, in Denver, Colorado to  Madeline Walters and Leo Fisher, Jr. He is survived by 3  of his 4 children, 20 grandchildren, and an extended  family of relations and friends from every walk of life  who will carry out his legacy by living their lives to the  fullest.

Michael enlisted in the Army in July 1965 and served 18 months deployed in the Vietnam War. In 1966, he married  his best friend and mother of his children, Victoria Jean Fisher (née Gray, deceased). Shortly after being  honorably discharged in 1967, Mike returned home and  began his career in construction.

We were all blessed to learn many valuable lessons from  Mike during his 77 years, among them: how to properly  twirl two nunchucks at once, and lightning fast. How to  hold the door open for your elders and that it’s “always  ladies first.” How to laugh and find the joy in everything  you do because life is too short. How to look for gold on  a beach or on a trail in the Rockies and how to cast a  trout line. How to properly handle a weapon and sight in  your rifle –“aim small, miss small.” How to make a cup  of Folgers coffee and not forget to “swap out those paper  filters.” How to cheer for your home team, the Denver  Broncos, and always have their back, even if the flag is  on them. How to interpret right from wrong, guided by a  moral compass designed with compassion, respect,  kindness, honesty, and trust. How to do the hand jive  while jamming to Rockin’ Robin by Bobby Day. How to  spot a 1966 Pontiac GTO cruising down the road about 50 yards out. How to examine a vehicle and know what  to look for when buying your first car. And many, many  more. But most of all, how to love your children and  grandchildren unconditionally, no matter what.

In Mike’s memory, his family and friends will be  holding services at Fort Logan Cemetery at 4400 W  Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 800236, where he will rest in  peace with his son, Michael Ray Fisher, Jr., and his  mother. In honor of Mike’s memory and in lieu of  flowers, we simply ask that you donate to or support your local troops and veterans of the United States  Armed Forces.
