Maxine Ordelheide

 

Maxine was born 1925, in Longmont, Colorado to Jake and Nita. After a prolonged illness, she died peacefully at home on March 16, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Johnstown High in 1943. She completed the pre-nursing program at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and received her nursing degree from Boulder Sanitarium in 1947. She married Walter Ordelheide in 1949. Following Walter's completion of medical school the couple settled in LaSalle, Colorado for 3 years and then they answered a call for medical missionary work. They served in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. After returning from Southeast Asia they resided in LaSalle, Colorado where Walter practiced for thirteen years. They then spent the last 20 years of their professional careers in California. Upon retirement they returned to their native Colorado.

During retirement Maxine and Walter participated in voluntary medical work in Jamaica, Pakistan and Nepal. She began volunteering for Hospice in California and continued doing so in Denver for a period of about ten years.

Throughout her adult life she also volunteered at the Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Prison Fellowship, Angel Tree, WGA and various church related activities. Maxine is survived by her husband Walter Ordelheide, sons Karl, Kris and Peter, daughters Carol Meidinger and Karen Mason and sister Doris Nashland. She also blessed her 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Denver South Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Private family graveside services at Fort Logan National Cemetery will be held prior to the memorial service.
