It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew Jay Hendriks, who departed this life on May 7, 2025, at the age of 46. He was preceded in death by both grandparents, several uncles, aunts, cousins and his beloved brother, Justin Lee Hendriks, on November 3, 2023. Matthew was a cherished member of the community, a beloved family member, and a dear friend to many who knew him.
Early Life and Education
Matthew Jay Hendriks was born on April 7, 1979 in Denver, Colorado. He attended Hillcrest elementary school, Pecos middle school, Northglenn high school and Arapahoe Community College where he developed a lifelong passion for his career in Mortuary Science. Friends and family remember him as someone who brought joy, compassion and kindness wherever he went.
Career and Achievements
Throughout his career as Owner/ Manager of Colorado Mortuary Services, LLC, Matthew Jay Hendriks was known for his dedication, integrity, and leadership. He touched many lives through his work and was respected by colleagues and families alike. He received many calls and letters of recognition including certificates of ongoing educational achievements.

Matthew Jay Hendriks is survived by his parents, Father Richard Lyle Hendriks (Chris) of Severance, Colorado; Step sister Jenn (Brian) Kelly family of Windsor, Colorado; Mother Barbara Christine Clark Hendriks of Thornton, Colorado; Uncle and Aunt Larry (Holly) Clark of Millersburg, Ohio; First Cousin Chad C Clark (family) of Millersburg, Ohio; First Cousin Leah E Clark (family) of Millersburg, Ohio; First Cousin Dennis D (Misty) Clark family of Millersburg, Ohio; First cousin Misty Dawn Clark and family of Millersburg, Ohio; Aunt and Uncle Donna (Cliff) Visscher, First cousins Sarah, Kristi and Channon Visscher families of South Dakota, Aunt and Uncle Eleanor (Virgil) Schoolmeester family of Minnesota; First cousins Mary, Brian, Jason and Brenda Schoolmeester of Minnesota and South Dakota.
He enjoyed his time with his Friends and colleagues and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Friends remember his laughter, generosity, and unwavering friendship.
Celebration of Life
A memorial graveside interment service will be held on May 15, 2025, at Olinger Highland Cemetery, beginning at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to honor Matthew Jay Hendriks’s memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
Matthew Jay Hendriks will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely.
