Mary Keifer

Mary Keifer, 85, of Falls City, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012.
She was born January 7, 1927 on the family farm near Lebanon Kansas, the daughter of the late E. Paul and Esther Carper. She was raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945.
She attended Manhattan Bible College and Kansas State University and graduated with a degree in Christian Education in 1949 and became an ordained minister. In 1947 she married the late Everett Wayne Keifer.
In 1952, they moved to Denver Colorado where they filled the pulpit at Westside Christian Church. While living in Denver, she attended Denver University and graduated in June 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She subsequently received a Master of Arts in Education from Colorado University. She was an elementary school teacher in the Denver Public Schools from 1961, retiring in 1989. She continued to substitute teach until 2004.
Mary was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Green Mountain Christian Church, in Denver.
She is survived by a daughter, Lesle Vancenbrock, of Falls City, Nebraska and two sons, Orion Keifer and wife Pat of Front Royal Virginia, Jerald Keifer and wife Patricia, of Spring Creek, Nevada, four brothers and one sister: Don Carper and wife Lorene, of San Antonio, Texas, Del Carper of Chula Vista, California, Ivan Carper and wife Norma, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Verda Franklin of Smith Center, Kansas, and Owen Carper and wife Shirley of Newton, Kansas, nine grand children, seven great-grand children and one great-great grandson.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, E. Wayne Keifer, her brother Gerald Carper and sister Edna Kattenberg.
The family will receive friends at Bullock Mortuary, 1375 East Hampden Avenue, Englewood, Colorado 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday September 16, 2012.
Internment will be Monday September 17, 2012 at 10:30 am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado, staging area B.
A memorial service will be held at Green Mountain Christian Church, 10700 West Exposition Drive, Lakewood, Colorado, Monday, September 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
