Mary Agnes Gibson was born on October 28, 1922 in West Branch, IA.  Mary was one of 8 children born to the Milder farming family.  She graduated high school in 1940 and in September, 1943 she joined the Navy as a WAVE.  During her 4-years of service she was authorized to wear the American Campaign, WWII and the Good Conduct ribbons as a Storekeeper First Class until January 22, 1947. She married Russ Gibson on April 25, 1949 in Iowa City, IA.

The couple moved to Denver in 1949 where she raised her 5 children, Eileen, Nancy, Linda, Marie and Bill.  Mary was actively involved in the PTA and Altar and Rosary and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing cards.  Over the years, Mary has donated thousands of afghans and lap robes to new mothers, House of Hope, Craig Hospital and the Englewood Police Department.  She supported Russ in his project of making cars for Toys for Gods Kids and relished in the joy of smiles she received upon giving them away.

Mary and Russ enjoyed various activities at St. Louis Catholic church.

Mary enjoyed four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mary’s faith was always strong and she instilled that in her family.  She touched many people’s hearts in her 89 years of life and she will be sorely missed.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Louis Catholic Church with interment following at Fort Logan National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
