Marlyn Mae Sacry

April 28, 1928 ~ April 2, 2023
Marlyn Mae Sacry April 1928 – April 2023 An admirable and fruitful life spanning ninety-five years closed its earthly chapter on Palm Sunday as Marlyn surrendered her mortal body and crossed over peacefully in her sleep. As an established Christian, Marlyn taught by example – lighting the way by the beauty and joy of Christ’s Love shining through her. She always had positive, kind and wise words and a radiant, beaming love for all those she befriended. We so keenly miss her presence while rejoicing that Marlyn has indeed found eternal refuge in the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ. Her commitment to Jesus and our faith assure us that Marlyn rejoins the family and friends who have preceded her to God’s heavenly realm and we await our reunion with Marlyn when we receive His call. Marlyn Mae (nee Selander) was born to Louina (Bjostat) and Arthur Selander in Sheyenne, North Dakota in the spring of 1928. In her teens, Marlyn moved with her family to Seattle Washington, graduated high school and continued her education at Washington State College in Pullman. It was here that Marlyn met the love of her life and future husband, Paul Sacry, Jr. Wedded in 1948, Marlyn and Paul relocated to Denver two years later. Entrepreneurial years were punctuated by the births of Lyle Allen (‘53) and Lee Anthony (‘55). In 1960 Marlyn and her blossoming family joined the congregation of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. 1963 saw Marlyn and Paul move into the first and only home of their own. This milestone was followed shortly by the births of Glen Paul (‘63) and Lynnell Ann (‘64). Even when times were tough, Marlyn faithfully embraced and enjoyed her roles as devoted wife, mother, true friend, helpmate, follower of Christ, parishoner, teacher, volunteer, and confidant. She skillfully played all these parts and seamlessly interwove so many threads into the wonderful tapestry that was her life on earth and beyond. Any day is a great day! to give thanks and gratitude for Marlyn’s continuing influence in our lives. Marlyn is survived by her siblings Arthur “Dick” (Martha) and Marilou Kronquist (Ernie); married children Lynn Knauber (Tim), Glen (Leisa), and Lee (Jude) as well as grandchildren Elliott, Phil, Daniel, and Kelly and great-grandchildren Max, Brody and Tobias.

Marlyn was such a wonderful mother-in-law. She led by example and I learned so much from her of which I am forever grateful.
I'll always remember Marlyn as a happy, loving and caring person whose smile lit up the room! It was my great luck to have dined at the Sacry family dinner table, a joyous (and delicious!) occasion each time! She brought light and love into the world and her life was a great example to us all.
