Lucille A. Ulrich

Lucille A. Ulrich
Lucille Annette Ulrich was born a very special lady. She was born November 23, 1927. From this day forward, she was on a mission, a mission to achieve all that she ever wanted to do in life and explore what life and the world had to offer.
Lucille graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1945. From then, she set out on a path that would change her life forever. She enrolled in nursing school at St. Agnes and learned everything she could about medicine and how to help people. In 1948, she graduated nursing school which put her right at the steps of our United States Air Force. Soon she was a 1st lieutenant registered nurse in aviation medicine. This path took her down a road of working in every medical area there was to offer, from the standard patient rooms to surgery and recovery, she did it all. She also nursed the injured soldiers who were coming back from Korea. Lucille saw more than most people could handle and some how she was able to. On her journey she met the man of her dreams, she was working as a hospital nurse in Wyoming when she was taking care of a patient named Gurney. Shortly after they met, Lucille and Gurney got married on July 14, 1958. Little did Lucille know how happy she was about to become.
Lucille and Gurney began to explore their now found life. Along their journey they moved around a bit due to being in the military you go where you are needed. From Pennsylvania to Wyoming and some places in between they found themselves in Logan, Utah. There they resided for a short time. During this time while Gurney was hard at work for our country, Lucille found out she was expecting. On August 17, 1959. Michelle Anne Ulrich was born. Our story continues as Lucille and Gurney decided what their next plan of action would be. They soon decided when the chance came, they would move to Colorado and Gurney would work at Buckley Air Force Base. Lucille who achieved her military goal decided to take a job at Porter Hospital. She worked and took care of Michelle while never missing a beat. In the later years Lucille retired and Gurney worked to provide for the family. Lucille was now starting a whole new path, she was learning how to be a stay at home mother and wife. Lucille made sure that Michelle had everything a baby could need while still being able to cook a 3 course meal for her husband to be hot, on the table and ready when he arrived home from work every night. Lucille handled everything with such poise and control. During her lifetime, she loved to ski and go camping. Even camping was an adventure because Lucille loved to cook and it didn't matter where she was, she could whip up a pot roast like she was at home cooking. Lucille prided herself on loyalty to family and many years later, Michelle, on May 24, 1981 had a baby girl. Lucille was so proud of her family growing and the fact she was now a grandma. Lucille never gave up. While raising Michelle and doing family vacations and being the matriarch of the family. Her life became very busy as the years went on, Michelle needed help raising Adrieanna because on May 15, 1985, Michelle gave birth to a baby boy named Peter. The family was really starting to grow for Lucille and so began the journey of becoming a mother to Adrieanna and a grandmother to Peter.
This is just part of her life story. She did so much with her life she dedicated it raising a family and helping those around her so nobody would have to suffer. Please enjoy the pictures of her life that Adrieanna has added (photographs tab on the left side of this page) and help her legacy live on.
Graveside services were held at the Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.

In losing his oldest sister Lucille, Tom has been remembering all the holidays — and normal days — spent with Lucille and Ad during his adulthood. She will be missed. Our special sympathy to Adrieanna, who has been such a stalwart and comfort to Lucille for many years. Our love to you and to all Tom's and Lucille's siblings back East.
Thank you uncle tom and aunt linda
Dear Aunt Lou-
Before your passing, I thought of you everyday. I shall still think of you everyday. You were not only an Aunt to me, you were a Mother. You always listened to me, never judged and always made me laugh.
I always appreciated how you supported my passion for animal rescue and never judged me when I felt compelled to save another.
I do not feel this is good-bye, this is until we met again. And until that day I hope I can continue to make you proud of me.
Love You Lots,
Stephie
Thank you stephie i love u so much
We were blessed to have Lucille in our lives for the last seventeen years. She was there as we got married, started a family, and was always a light in our lives. She was a wonderful example of what a mother and grandmother should be. We know she is now Home with her parents, beloved husband and daughter in Heaven, where we know we will see her again someday. Thank you, Lucille, for all the time spent with us. We love you very much.
Thank you ryan and Jenna
Dear Grandma Lucille,
Thank you. Thank you for accepting me into your family 16 years ago. Thank you for teaching us determination when we totaled our car half way to Alaska. Thank you for my nightly calls when Peter was deployed and for always being a rock through out our military travels. Mostly thank you for being you and knowing who that was. You taught me a lot… how to be strong, determined and smart. I promise your great grandchildren will learn your journey and they will turn out to be all of the above as well.
love,
Cathi
