Lorraine F. Jeltema

Lorraine Frances Wright was born in Denver, Colorado on January 17, 1927 to Guy and Cornelia “Sis” Wright.

She grew up in South Denver and spent many hours on the playground at Grant Junior High School with the neighborhood Dutch kids and her future husband, Jim Jeltema. They were married on June 15, 1948 and were married 64 years when Jim preceded her in death. Lorraine was a Mother to four children: Dean (deceased), Carl, Randy and Sandy. She was a Grandmother to Jeremiah, Ryan, Brenna and Jason. And she was Mom to Kennette and Tom Swaroff – her “adopted daughter from California” and her husband. She was a Sister-In-Law to Dottie Jeltema and an Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine worked at the phone company until the birth of her first child and then stayed at home to raise her children. Later, she worked at Bethesda Hospital, in the Insurance office and at the Mental Health Center of Denver. Lorraine was a wonderful seamstress from a young age. She taught Calvinettes to sew and in her later years, worked on banners for the church. She supported her husband as he sang in “The Chordsmen” Gospel quartet for over three decades, and she devoted many years of her life taking care of Jim as his health failed.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and by those who took care of her in the last couple of years of her life. We rejoice that she can walk freely without pain and is with Jesus, her Savior, on the golden streets of Heaven.
