Lori Kay Shellenberger

Lori was born March 24, 1973 in Denver, Colorado to Steven and Susan (Werschky) Shellenberger.  She passed away February 22, 2016 in Denver, Colorado.

Everyone soul comes into this world with their own imperfections.  Lori was no exception but she was able to overcome her physical disabilities with her smile and love in her heart for everyone.  Remember her as a fighter, Irish determination and German stubbornness.  Those qualities gave her 42 years to be here with those who love her.  She completed high school,  she played piano with Uncle Jim, she travelled coast to coast, and wherever she went she always told anyone who would talk with her, help her, or show an act of kindness " I love you".

Keep Lori's flame of love alive in your heart pass on her love of others.  Sleep well my baby girl in the loving arms of Jesus.  Until we are united, I love You, Lori Kay.

Heavens Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from Earth

It's time again for another birth

The angles said to the Lord above

This special child will need much love.

Her progress may seem very slow

Accomplishments she may not show

And she'll require extra care

From everyone she meets down there.

She may not run, or laugh, or play

Her thoughts mas seem quite far away

In many ways she won't adapt

And she'll be known as handicapped.

So let's be careful where she is sent

We want her life to be content

Please Lord find a mother who

will do a special job for you.

She will not realize right away

The leading role she is asked to play

But with this child sent from above

Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon she'll know the privilege given

In caring for this gift from Heaven

Her precious charge so meek and mild

Is Heaven's very special child.

Memorial services will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church Friday, March 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

  1. I just saw this about Lori. Even though it's been many, many years since we saw her , we remember her very well. She was a sweet young lady who let nothing stop her.
