In Loving Memory of Judy Marie Sour
Judy Marie Sour, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on
June 13, 2024, at the age of 72 in Denver, Colorado.
Judy was born on October 7, 1951 in Atwood KS, the second child of Edward Joseph and Emily Louise
Harvanek. After spending her early childhood on the family farm in Atwood, she moved with her
parents and older sister Rose to Denver, CO at the age of two and then to Commerce City, CO, at the
age of six.
She was a loving sibling and leaves behind her sisters and brother: Rosemary Blazon, Katherine
“Kathy” (Mike) Stevens, Christine “Tina” (Jim) Trujillo, Lynette Reed, and Joseph Harvanek, along
with many beloved nieces and nephews.
On August 11, 1978, she married the love of her life, William Ira Sour Jr. Together, they built a
beautiful family and were blessed with two children, William Ira III (Rockelle) Sour and Shannon Lynn
Sour. Her legacy continues with her cherished grandchildren, Brody Sour, Melodie Certain, and
McKenzie Certain.
Judy pursued her education at St. Joseph’s and Annunciation Catholic Schools before graduating from
Adams City High School in the class of 1970.
After several years at The A.B. Hirschfeld Press company, she found her calling as a special needs
paraprofessional at Northeast Junior High School in 1990. Later taking her skills to Northglenn High
School. Judy retired in 2011 after spending over 20 years in Adams County School District 12,
enriching the education and touching the lives of countless children with special needs.
Judy had a passion for life. She enjoyed a variety of music and would be dancing at a moments notice,
water skiing, spending time in the sun, bowling, gardening, loving her pets and traveling with her
husband. Her vibrant spirit and love for these activities brought joy to those around her. Judy will be
remembered for her kindness, humor, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her
presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her but even more by those who didn’t.

We had so many laughs and wonderful times together.
You will always be in my heart. Love you
She was a kind passionate hardworking person.
She enjoyed having fun doing no matter what. She always had a smile on her face and enjoy the day to her fullest.
I’ve learned a lot from my mom and I realized there’s a lot of traits I have of hers much as her having some traits as I do.
I miss getting her advice, voice, hugs, kisses, smile, touch.
I will always remember the great times we had at Northeast M.S. and Northglenn H.S. !!! And the best time ever we had at the summer concert with Ms. Friarson and Ms. Phyl !!! You will be missed!!
