Joseph Robert Klune

Joseph (Joe) Klune 91, was born April 2, 1924 in Leadville, Colorado to Steven and Mary Klune. He was married to Betty for 62 years before she passed away in 2010. He was preceded in death by his brother's Bob and Fred, and son Scott. He is survived by daughters Nancy Klune and Libby diZerega, grandsons Andrew diZerega (DeeDee) and Joseph (diZerega), and three great-grandsons, Brennon, Kyle and Theron. He attended North High School, Denver, the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He retired from the Denver Public Schools after 39 years of service. During his career he was a teacher, counselor and coached wrestling, football, gymnastics, and track. His DPS Wrestling record was 143-14 and overall record was 259-60-2. He coached a Colorado High School All Star Wrestling Team which traveled throughout Japan. He officiated high school and small college football and wrestling for 33 years. He served on the Broncos chain gang at home games for 31 years. A Memorial Service in celebration of Joe's life will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Arvada Center of Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO with a reception to follow. Memorial gifts are welcome at the Denver Teacher's Club, 1617 S Acoma St, Denver, CO 80223 or a charity of choice.
