Joseph John Melusky-1922 to 2011. Joseph J. Melusky passed away peacefully in his home in Denver, Colorado on July 22, 2011. Joseph was born to Andrew J. and Miriam L. (Bradberry) Melusky on February 18, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa. Joseph graduated from Roosevelt High School (Seattle) in 1940 and received his B.A. in History and Education from the University of Washington in 1945. Joseph was active duty with the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1955 when he was honorably discharged as a lieutenant. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, as did his father and two brothers. He was a pilot in the Berlin Airlift and the Korean conflict. For his service, he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Naval Reserve Medal, Pacific Area Medal, Humane Action Medal, National Defense Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Joseph married Elizabeth Ann Stevenson in 1947. Joseph is survived by his wife and four children. Peggy (Pam) Dozier who live in Bailey, Colorado with her husband James (Duke); and their son William who lives in Boulder. Andrew (Steve) and his daughter Vanessa and granddaughter Laura who live on Whidbey Island. David and his wife Christine and son Daniel who live in Eaton, Colorado; and their daughter Corinne who lives in Colorado Springs. Michael and his wife Karen, son Benjamin and daughter Krista who live in Centennial, Colorado. Joseph was a pilot with Trans Ocean airlines in Tokyo, Japan from 1959 to 1960. He then moved to Denver, Colorado in 1960 to work for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Air Carrier Inspector until his retirement in 1986. Joseph was a loving husband and father. He loved to golf, play bridge, work in his garden growing tomatoes, and watch his Denver Broncos (and almost any other sport) on TV. His greatest moment in golf was when he made a hole-in-one on the ninth hole at Fitzsimmons Golf Club. He will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
