John "Scott" Scanlon

John Scott-Scanlon, 68 of Aurora, Colorado passed away at home.

Born August 24, 1956, at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan. He was the cherished
son of Alice Jean Tatro and Robert Scanlon. Known affectionately as “Scottie” during his youth,
he carried that playful spirit throughout his life.

Scott was a devoted husband to Josephine Ruiz-Scanlon, whose love and dedication were his
family’s foundation. A die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he never missed a game and was
often found sharing his passion with his friends and family, turning every game day into a
celebration. An enthusiast of life, he had a knack for making connections and left an impression
on everyone he met with his genuine kindness and infectious smile.

Scott’s memory will be cherished by those who knew him. He is survived by his daughters,
Evelyn Ruiz Fores-Montero and husband Edwin of Franklin, TN, and Jolyam Ruiz Brinkman,
husband John of Kearneysville, WV. He was a grandfather to Ellie, Katharine, Josephine, and
Liam of Kearneysville, WV. He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Schlegel, Mary Ramirez,
Timothy Scanlon, sister-in-law Carol Scanlon, Christina Holmes, and Pam Morrison. His
nephews and niece, Adam Schlegel, Marcus Ramirez, Victoria Fuller, Sean and Ryan Scanlon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Ruiz-Scanlon, his parents, and
brothers-in-law, Oscar Ramirez and Paul Schlegel.

Scott’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability
to see the good in people, his unwavering support for his family, and his joyful spirit will be
deeply missed but never forgotten.
