John James Kinney

John James Kinney, 59, beloved son of John and Kathleen Kinney, died peacefully in his sleep after a heroic multi-year battle with cancer Monday July 11, 2016. Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, John attended St. Francis of Assisi School and St. Thomas the Apostle High School. A few years later, John relocated to Colorado where he lived and worked for the remainder of his life. John will be remembered for his great humor, kindness, generosity of spirit and ultimate desire for all he loved to laugh and enjoy the humor life offers to combat its challenges. John was a gentle man who faced cancer like a warrior. He was determined to beat the beast, and when initially given a short survival estimate, John fought for more than two years, defying all odds and mystifying all. John faced his imminent future with courage, strength and unparalleled dignity. He was always more interested in others and would deflect any worry for himself. John is lovingly survived by his best friend and fiancée, Kim Harris, his six sisters, Kathleen Kinney, Patricia Kinney, Sheila Diamond, Marian Broderick, Barbara Kinney and Eileen Murphy and several loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and niece Amy LaFata.
