John David Hood

September 20, 1944 ~ September 13, 2022
Tuesday September 13, 2022, John D. Hood, age 77 of Buena Vista Colorado entered into Paradise.
John is survived by his wife Kathy (Kat) of 47 years, six children, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister Patsy N. Hood Jeffress of Westcliffe Colorado.
He was devoted husband and loving father to his children and grandchildren. Always sharing stories of their adventures and accomplishments with others.
John P. Hood and Lela A. Scott Hood his parents, as well as two brothers Bruce L. Hood and James D. Hood preceded him in death.
John was born in Monticello, Arkansas but moved to Oklahoma as a toddler. At 14 years of age he moved with his family to Littleton Colorado in 1958 where he attended public school before joining the Navy. After serving his country he worked in the Pipe and Steel Industry thus retiring after 36 years with Marmon Keystone as Operations Manager.
He was the most devoted fan of the Oklahoma University Sooners football program, never missing a broadcast while wearing his OU sweatshirt. He loved the Denver Broncos most of the time. Camping with his family in the beautiful areas of Colorado was a great love. Taking trips on his BMW 1200 motorcycle was another one of the many adventures John enjoyed through out his life. His greatest joy was telling jokes and stories friends and family members who have passed on. He loved spending time with his children and Kat.
John will be dearly missed by many life long friends but mostly by his beloved family.
Gonna miss John BUT he left me with many good and fond memories. One in particular was a Wallace Family Reunion in Dover, Tennessee. We were on our way to the gathering and it was pouring down rain so hard you could barely see 10 feet in front of you. Well, we were in his truck, he was driving, so he rolled down his window to see better. He forgot he had his ball cap on so that when he rolled the window back up and turned to face front his ball cap was still stuck in the window facing left. We all laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes. Yes, he will be missed BUT never forgotten at least while I live. Ok Navy, this Marine has the watch now. You have been relieved of duty and get to walk the streets of gold in Heaven. When I get there I'll look you up Brother.
My Dad was one of a kind. He taught me so much. My love for camping and motorcycles is instilled in me and I will always remember our trips. Growing up under his protection. My Dad loved to make you laugh.
My Dad was a hard worker. A generation of proud, strong work ethics. He was a true Cowboy and was very proud of his heritage, his military background and his family. He served in Vietnam and was on the USS Radford. His Military was always impressive and I am so thankful he is having a Navy honors funeral. I will miss him so much and will meet him in heaven.
Even though Jims desire was to stay as remote as possible and many miles were between us, I want you all to know I am truly sorry to hear of Johns passing
It was always a pleasure to spend time with John he was always very welcoming and and friendly to everyone. I remember when we were up fishing near Buena Vista with John a few years ago my son stopped fishing and was just listening to the stories that John was telling. He always had stories to share and always there was something about Oklahoma and the area that he grew up in. He was an inspiration to many and will be missed.
John David Hood was my grandpa, but he liked for us to call him daddy grandpa. He was a great provider to all who entered his home and his heart. Im forever grateful to God Almighty for such an honorable man to be the head of our large family. He will always be in my heart.
to heaven, with and from love
John Hood. My friend and co-worker at Marmon Keystone. John could spin a story like no other man I have ever met. He told stories about the two of us that were unbelievable, but they really happened (only not quite as exciting as he would tell it). Johns career @MK was from the time of paper driven orders to the digital age and John never missed a beat. He always defended his men in the warehouse keeping the customer first. We had a great professional relationship, and I always admired his work ethic. I will miss him and his friendship because he was a loyal and true friend.
I've known and loved John for decades. He was the world's greatest story teller. He could tell things that happened so long ago. I'll miss that. He was always kind hearted and a pleasure to know.
What a guy. John came into my life when I started working at MK. His demeanor and spirit never failed to inspire.
What laughs we had. A man never to be forgotten, he is a legend in my mind.
I'll miss my dad very much I heard all his stories throughout my life over and over and over but each time I listen to him it's like hearing it for the 1st time cause he told him in such a special way. He loved his family so much he do anything for them and has done any Thing for us I will miss his smile his laugh the way he sings I'll miss giving him rub down on his feet He was such a hard worker either being at his work Marmon Keystone or being at home building something My dad was a tough son of a gun But the biggest Teddy bear I will miss him and I think of him all the time I really now feel like hes really watching over me Before there was miles between us there was no way but I do feel him watching over me now I love you dad I'll see you when I get there
