Joan Marie Berg

Joan Marie Berg passed away Monday, January 31, 2017 at Porter Hospice in Centennial, CO at the age of 78. She was born May 15, 1938 to Otto and Dorothy (Schlarbaum) Vorhies of Lockridge, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Paul E. Berg on May 13, 1961. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1977. They were married for 16 beautiful years.

Joan received her Registered Nursing degree from Southeastern Community College in 1984. She worked at Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center and Boone County Hospital before her retirement. During the last three years, she lived in Denver, CO with her daughter and family.

Funeral Services and Burial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10th at Raymond Funeral Home in Iowa. Interment will be in the Lockridge Cemetery.  For Colorado friends, a visitation will be held at Bullock Mortuary in Englewood on Monday, February 6th from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9th from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa.

Surviving are her daughter, Christina (Berg) Angeloff, her grandson, Pierce M. Angeloff and her (almost) son-in-law, Clark D. Adams.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Dorothy Vorhies, two brothers: Walter Vorhies and Donald Vorhies and three sisters: Margaret Eshelman, Elaine McClure and Helen Vorhies.
