Born in: Denver, Colorado
Resided in: Westminster, Colorado

James Raymond Sanchez, 41, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 20, 2025, at Mountain Ridge Hospital in Thornton, Colorado. Born in Denver in 1983, James was the cherished son of Raymond and Cherie Sanchez, who loved and cared for him throughout his life.

James attended Northglenn High School, earning his GED in 2002. He dedicated many years to landscaping work before transitioning to a successful career as a warehouse and production worker. He excelled in food service distribution and had worked for both Roma and Shamrock Foods in the Denver Metro area.

James was truly a special person, winning awards for his artistic talent, demonstrating natural athleticism on the soccer and baseball fields, and excelling at the game of golf. He could bust a move on the dance floor like no other. He was deeply reflective and possessed a kind and tender heart, a deep love for animals—especially cats, dogs, cows, and horses—and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends.

Those who knew James well will remember his immense passion for both Denver’s National Western Stock Show and Houston’s Livestock Show and Rodeo. He once had his own horse, “Dandy,” and even raised a spirited rooster named Henry. James had a remarkable ability to become a subject matter expert in anything that captured his interest, which included animal breeding and genetics, hydroponic and traditional gardening, as well as freshwater aquatics.

He loved the outdoors, particularly hiking the open spaces of Denver and Boulder, and he’d often be heard whistling a happy tune or singing along with a good song. James had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and have fun with loved ones, like having a birthday tea party with his mom and a hike with bikes with his brother-in-law. He was a genuine joy to be with.

James is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elmo and Barbra Brundrett of Houston, and his paternal grandfather, Raymond Sanchez of Denver. He is survived by his loving parents, Raymond and Cherie Sanchez; his sister, Jessica Loyd (Matt); his brothers, Brian and Taylor Sanchez; his nieces, Ellie Loyd, Lyla Sanchez, and Lilia Sanchez; and his nephews, Rafael Loyd and Eli Sanchez. He also leaves behind his paternal grandmother, Nancy Sanchez, along with many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

James will be profoundly missed, and our hearts ache with his absence. We find comfort in knowing he is at peace in the Kingdom of Heaven with Jesus and his loved ones who have gone before.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either the National Western Stock Show or Community Reach Center of Adams County are greatly appreciated.

  2. Knowing someone for over 30 years! We had so many memories. I know I’ll see your spirit again, and know that you will be deeply missed! I remember the times when we were inseparable, you were the brother I couldn’t have loved more. May the Lord bless you and give you peace🙏

    • Nicely said Ryan, I remember the good times that we had growing up together.
      The three of us.
James you’re in a better place now.

  3. Dear Jamey. I will always cherish our time spent together. Living in another state, I didn’t see you as much as I would have liked, but you were always close to my heart. I will always have memories of our time spent swimming in various places and enjoying your joyous spirit. Rest in peace little brother. You are missed, but I will see you on the other side.

    Love,
    uncle Joel

  4. Wow, the memories that I have with James …how much he loved the stock show and his knowledge of horses always amazed me. Playing soccer with him over the years and growing to have a 30+ year friendship.. no matter the ups and downs, the goods I remember and the bad I have seen. I will always have love for you in my heart James, and I truly hope you find peace. I will think of you often, Love you Brother

  5. Jamie I will always remember you as that spunky caring little boy who loved horses. Our family will never be the same without you. I know you are at peace now but does not stop all of us from missing you deeply. Until we meet again my sweet cousin.

  6. The Distance Between Two Hearts:

12 months and 12 days between your heart and mine
Innocent as the first blossoms on a columbine

Irish twins, one boy and one girl
Little pitter patters in the house on Pearl

The biggest brown eyes and a cherub grin
You’re as handsome now as you were then

Lord, take me back to those simpler times
When we lived in a castle built by nursery rhymes

    The Mickey to my Minnie
    The Jack to my Jill
    Wishes on an old penny
What we’d give to have you still

Our little cowboy who loved all things farmland
The red barn, horses, cattle, and pastures
You had the know how to build a dreamland

Faster, funnier, and more talented than I
You had so much to give, if only you knew
How amazing you were, it makes my heart cry

A wild horse who could never be tamed
You followed your own path, different than mine

But I never lost the love for you in my heart
James, you’re all I’ve ever known from my start

But you never belonged to me on this earth
Just simply a gift for a matter of time
Renewed and restored through a heavenly birth
Knowing where you are is our silver line

Go rest high on that mountain
The sky is clear and the sun is sett’n

Give Grandpa, Nana, Papa and those who went before our love
I bet the promised land better than we could dream of

12 months and 12 days between your heart and mine
And I’ll keep you in my heart until it is my time

    -Sis
