Smith, James Howe

1928-2013

Born April 29, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 21st 2013 in Aurora, Colorado.   

Jim was proud to be part of the Rocky Mountain Shipwrights and the Jim Smith Society.  Jim was a loving and caring man, always gracious and complimentary to those giving comfort and support not only to him, but to others.  He lived his life with a huge heart and a wonderful sense of humor that caught many off guard, but quickly made them feel comfortable regardless of the situation.

Jim, a US Navy veteran was preceded in death by parents, Wilson and Martha, his loving wife of 59 years, Irene, brothers Thomas and Edwin.  He is survived by two wonderful children, Doug Smith (Amy), Denver, CO, Kathy Smith Rouse (Greg), Highlands Ranch, CO two grandchildren, Matthew Rouse,  Englewood, CO and Lindsay Rouse  Krattenmaker (John), Parker, CO; two great grandchildren, Van and Lily Krattenmaker;  sister in laws, Arlene Smith (Palm Harbor, FL), Frances Smith, Puyallup, WA, Mary Moreno, Sulphur, LA brother in laws  Ike Moreno, Tucson, AZ, Willy Moreno (Patsy) Lake Charles, LA, and many nieces and nephews.   A memorial service to remember and honor both Jim and Irene will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 18th at 11:00 AM.
