James H. Hafenbrack died peacefully on August 4, 2010. He was 90. Jim is survived by Wilbur Hafenbrack of Albuquerque, NM, Patricia Hedge and her husband Tom of Salem, OR, Gloria Coleman also of Salem, OR, Paula Harrison and her husband Dave of Aurora, CO, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three step-sons, Greg, Mark and Dirk Joss and Sister-in-Law Carrie Hafenbrack of Longview, WA. Preceeding him in death, his brother John, sister Betty, first wife Opal J. and second wife Beatrix M. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a pilot instructor, at one point stationed in LaJunta, CO. After his service he went on to graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in Geology. He worked 36 years with Exxon. After his retirement from Exxon, he helped form the Oil & Gas Company for PPG. As a geologist, he had a reputation for being an oil finder discovering many substantial fields. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Rocky Mountain Association of Petroleum Geologists. Jim was a kind and generous person and will be missed by all who knew him.
