Hubert F. Heggen was brought home to the Lord on May 7, 2021.  He was born to Miller and Sara Heggen in Slater, Iowa, on February 2, 1919. Hubert spent his youth in Slater, and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver.  On January 27,1946 he married Dorothy Brown.  Hubert and Dorothy had two sons, Michael and Robert. The family moved to their home on Cedar Street in Littleton, in 1954.  Hubert worked many years as a Credit Manager for tire distribution companies until his retirement.

Hubert loved Colorado and the mountains. He also loved working in his yard, which looked much more like a beautiful garden than just a simple yard - especially his rose bushes.  As though the home yard wasn’t enough, he tended the flowers around Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years.  Hubert was a very active member at Immanuel and in later years at Ascension Lutheran Church in Littleton.

Family was extremely important to “Grandpa Hugh”.  He was an integral part of every grandchild and great-grandchild’s life. Always in attendance at every activity, milestone or event.

Hubert was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, brothers Stanley and Howard, and an infant granddaughter Kristen.  He is survived by a brother Gerald; sons Michael (Kathryn) and Robert (Patricia); grandchildren Paul (Rachel) Heggen and Michele (Joseph) Lukanen, Timothy (Mindy) Heggen, and Kimberly (Ryan) Coquet; and 7 great-grandchildren - Ethan, Makaye, Kristen, Madison, Lydia, Dylan and Maycee.

Memorials may be given to the Ascension Lutheran Church Building Fund.
