Helen Anema

December 31, 1917 ~ March 18, 2009
Born December 31, 1917 in Harrison, South Dakota. Devoted wife of Edward for 65 years, and loving father of Jan (Ken) Oosterhouse, Marie (Earl) Shaffer, Helen Claire Anema, Charlene (Jim) Bronsink, and Adele (Steve) Kroonenberg. Helen was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Edward; sisters, Marie DeLange and Henrietta Pranger; brothers, Jake and Heyme DeLange; and son-in-law Earl Shaffer. After battling many age-related complications, Helen peacefully met her Lord on March 18, 2009. Helen loved gardening, music and traveling. She was a committed member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Denver and of the Gideon's Auxiliary, and she aided her husband in his volunteer service for the World Home Bible League. She will be dearly missed, but our loss is Heaven's gain - the angels have a wonderful soprano joining them in praises to her Lord and Savior. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 23 at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church (1814 S. Emerson St.). In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Denver Christian Schools (2135 S. Pearl St., Denver, CO 80210). Visitation at Bullock Mortuary, 1375 E. Hampden Ave. on Sunday, March 22 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
