Harrison Pollard, Sr.
January 6, 1940 – November 13, 2021
Harrison Pollard, Sr. of Morrison, Colorado, was born on January 6, 1940, in Winona, Mississippi, to his single teen-aged mother, Louise Pollard. When Harrison was very young, his mother Louise decided she wanted to move the family from the South. That is when they relocated to West Des Moines, Iowa, where Harrison grew up under the nurturing care of his mother and beloved Grandma Ellen. Harrison’s grandparents were devout believers, and Harrison’s love of God developed from a very early age. In their church, he first raised his voice in song, and he carried a song in his heart from then on.
As a teenager, he attended Valley View High School in West Des Moines, and excelled in athletics, playing football, basketball, and baseball. His success on the football team led to him receiving a scholarship to attend Parson’s College in Fairfield, Iowa. He graduated in 1962 and was drafted by the Chicago Bears, though he opted not to join the team, as he was called upon by Parson’s College to recruit more people of color, and he was expecting his first child and his heart led him in that direction.
In 1962 he married Sharon Dabner, and two sons were born to them: Harrison, Jr. in 1963 and Camron Scott in 1965. In 1973 he married Irene Stavig, and his daughter Renata Christine was born in 1976.
He worked in a variety of industries throughout his career, including Equitable Life Assurance and John Deer in both their Life Insurance and Western Industrial divisions, which brought him and his family to Colorado in 1977.
In 1983 he married Roxanne Cohen, becoming a stepfather to three more sons, Jim, Doug and Jarett. He was a dedicated member of Word of Life Church, where he was a lead greeter and deacon and he ministered to countless others sharing his faith and his love of God. He spent most of his free time cheering on his favorite NFL team, the Denver Broncos. Harrison passed away on November 13, 2021, following a short hospitalization.
Harrison will be remembered by all who knew him for his huge smile, hearty laugh, compassion for people, and above all else, praying for all his children to be Saved and heaven bound. His love for his family and his God was infinite. He is survived by his loving wife, Roxanne, his three children, three stepsons, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and countless brothers and sisters to whom he ministered and supported throughout his lifetime.

Jon wrote a movie and based one of the characters on Harrison. He is so sweet.
My Honie B. Oh how I miss you….we always said "it's you Lord & you & me "Harrison was my Soul mate.. I Cherish you, every minute, hour, day month year …….All these years in richer or poorer in sickness and in health until death do we part, though this is the Real Deal until we meet again in Heaven with Yeshua. Thank you my Beloved for giving me "True Love" to the Greatest Godly Man in the Whole Wide World to me. I love you forever…………..your Q.B.
Remember, I put on your timeline that Jon and I were praying for you earlier this month? Jon wants me to send his condolences and tell you he remembers the correctness of his handshake and the kindness of his hugs. My Jon is so sweet. You have a good mortuary. Dawn Stork went to school with me and the Bullocks were life long friends of my mom and dads. Good people.
Roxanne, I remember when you first met Harrison. Fibre remember when his car broke down, and I went to pick him up from work. While I know you will miss him, he is talking to our Lord and Savior.
We will never forget this amazing man of God. He made people feel welcome and valued, yet had the ability to see their potential and could challenge them to rise up and be who God was calling them to be. We loved him and will miss him and are blessed to have known him.
What a man! Always so kind and loving. Devoted to his Roxanne! Right by her side! I remember when we started attending Word of Life, Harrison was so warm and doting on our family. Really made us feel welcome. He was a faithful prayer warrior and cared so deeply for so many. He came alongside our family and continually was praying. He will be missed here, but oh…..he is with his Jesus! May the Lord comfort Roxy's heart and all the family. Till we see you again Mighty Man of God……
There was never a church service that Harrison didnt make me feel loved and encouraged!!!
Harrison makes heaven more desirable, he was such a lovely man of God!!!!!
Beautifully spoken
