Guy Stockwell 1952-2019
Enveloped with love, Guy Stockwell passed away on the morning of Nov 6, 2019 from complications due to ALS. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Klanderud, 3 children: Bethany(Guy) Ristoff, Dawn(Ed) Charles, Cale Stockwell; 3 Ristoff grandchildren: James, Kaelyn, Lucy and 7 Charles grandchildren:Garrett, Gunnar, Gabriel, Gideon, Grace, Gwenyth, Gretchen. He was born in Dayton,OH to June & John Stockwell on April 17, 1952. He was the 4th of 11 children: Forrest(Barb) Stockwell, Chris(Maggie) Stockwell, Mark(Jane) Stockwell, Jane Stockwell, Jill(Robert) Carl, Scott(Mary Alice) Stockwell, Tom(Michelle) Stockwell, Kelly(Lisa) Stockwell, Mary Johnson(deceased), Jeremy"Jay"(Betsy) Stockwell. Guy's father was in the Air Force so, as a child, his family moved often. When John retired from the Air Force, they returned to Hartington, NE, where he graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in 1970.
Guy attended University of Nebraska, where he and Kathy met. Guy graduated from Regis University with a business degree in 1998 at the age of 46. He was very dedicated to getting that degree - working full time & going to school at night. One class at a time, he worked toward his goal.
Guy worked as a master electrician most of his adult life. He retired from Hunter Douglas as a supervisor of the maintenance department.
Guy enjoyed many activities while raising his family: SCCA, golfing, reading, beer appreciation, and singing, to name a few. His long time dream was to build a house. Guy & Kathy completed building a duplex in 2015, with a lot of help from family and friends.
Guy was very proud of the large family in which he grew up. He delighted in the successes & opportunities of his siblings, children & grandchildren. Guy had a very quick wit - something that has also shown up in his children & grandchildren.
For 6 years, Guy has written a daily haiku. He always did the haiku plus 2 quotes 1st thing in the morning. He wanted to set a positive tone with these. A list of his haikus(which he called guykus) are at guyku.us.
