Georgianna Kieser "Pinky" Keahon
March 16, 1921 ~ February 15, 2017
GEORGIANNA KIESER “PINKY” KEAHON
Pinky was born March 16, 1921 in New York City to William and Helen Kieser. She grew up in Hackensack, New Jersey, graduating from Hackensack High School before attending the Marjorie Webster College in Washington, D. C. She married John Gillespie in 1942 and moved to Binghamton, New York. Their marriage produced four children: John “Jay” Gillespie, Ann Gillespie (Walt) Roche, William Edward “Ted” (Kathi) Gillespie and Janice Lynn Gillespie (Miles) Cortez. In 1955 the Gillespie family moved to Denver, Colorado and later to Colorado Springs where, following her divorce from John, Pinky raised her four children as a single mother. She worked in retail sales for retailers in Colorado Springs, including the May Department Stores in Colorado Springs. She was a member of the Junior League.
Pinky moved to Denver in 1968 where she continued working for May D&F. She married Donald F. Keahon in 1975. As an active member of Ports of Call, Pinky and Don loved to travel, most often to warm weather and beach destinations. Pinky actively followed the stock market on a daily basis, and enjoyed card games, especially bridge, and bingo. True to the nickname given to her by her father as an infant, she enjoyed the color pink in all aspects of her life and enjoyed a reputation for wearing pink. Her pet expressions became well-known as “pinkyisms.”
Pinky was predeceased by her brother William “Bill” Kieser, Jr. She is survived by her brother John “Buck” (Flo) Kieser and her four children, nine grandchildren (Lynne Roche Devlin, Greg Roche, Jennifer Gillespie, Laura Gillespie, DeAndra Gillespie Neuhardt, Jeff Salzenstein, Miles Cortez III, Amy Cortez Frank, and Drew Cortez), ten great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.
Graveside services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, March 16th at 2:00 p.m. (Staging area "A").
