Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My fondest memory of Grandpa was waking up and seeing grandpa at the kitchen table ( he was a really, really early riser) He would look up and give me that amazing smile. I felt so loved. He would ask me how I slept. Then after I ate Grandmas amazing hot cereal, we would watch the hot air balloons with me in his lap just talking.
I have so many its hard to choose, he was a big part of my childhood into my young adulthood. He was just always there ready to hug me, talk to me or lecture me about some of my life choices. He was the kind of Grandfather that every Grandchild should experience/ have. He made a huge impression on me and who I am today. Love u Grandpa forever and always.. Julie

  2. George was pretty much my back-up dad. We weren't blood related but were certainly family. His amazing smile is what I will always remember. Thanksgivings as a child in the Cobb home were exactly how the holiday should be.
Me and my family will miss him.
    God speed George!

  3. I will always have great memories of George including camping, fishing, hunting, golfing and the list goes on. In all those memories if I were to describe George in one word it would be a word I seldom use – Awesome! He was the kindest and most enjoyable person to be around. I consider myself a very lucky person to have known George.

  4. Memories of the good times spent with George are forever etched in my heart. George was a very special person, with his big heart, soft spoken voice and gentle nature. Our deepest sympathy to Helen and all of the family. With lots of love, Lorna and Bill

  5. My Uncle George always gave me the BIGGEST SMILE & HUGS. He had a contagious smile. I felt his genuine love when he hugged me. He was calm and gentle. He and Aunt Helen always have been an inspiration to me. I know Uncle George chuckled when Aunt Helen used to tell me to comb my hair or did I tell her? I'm grateful for the memories I have of Uncle George. He sure was an amazing man who lived a blessed life. You will always be remembered.
*I will see you soon Uncle George!*

  7. (We aren't blood relatives, but we're heart related. I asked if we could call them Aunt Helen and Uncle George. That was 28 years ago!)

For Aunt Helen and Uncle George's 50th Wedding Anniversary, their children had a party at the Botanic Gardens in Denver to celebrate. There was delicious food, beautiful decorations, great music and lots of laughter and fun. After a couple of hours, my husband Fred and I decided it was time to make our way home. Aunt Helen was easy to find. With her beautiful white hair, she just glows in any setting! Of course, she was in the middle of several ladies, laughing and sharing stories from years gone by. We hugged her and asked where we could find Uncle George. She pointed to the corner she had seen him last. We headed in that direction, and he popped out in front of us! We told him we were on our way out, and he said, ‘Not until we dance!' I told him no thank you, but he persisted. He had promised himself that he would dance with every woman that came to the party, with Aunt Helen's blessing. Uncle George knew how to dance, and I didn't want to embarrass him or myself! Again, I refused. I finally conveyed that I couldn't dance with him, because I didn't know how! I had never learned how to dance! He took my hand, and before I could react, he had me feeling like Cinderella! We were floating across the room without me even touching the floor! I don't remember even stepping on his toes! I have no idea how we looked, but I know how he made me feel.

He was a kind, gentle man with beautiful blue eyes. He seemed to always have a big smile on his face, and gave great hugs! He loved Jesus and he adored his bride and his family.

Aunt Helen, Ron & Deb, Karen & Ollie, Valerie & Mike, and grandkids and great grandkids, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm praying you find peace and comfort, knowing that he's with Jesus! Someday, you'll be able to join them!
I will continue to carry you in my heart and in my prayers.

  8. I have many wonderful memories of my “Unk”. He was always smiling, full of laughter, and always ready and willing to go do something. I loved having them come here, Also memories of many vacations with my mom and dad, Bonnie and Buzz. And boy could he give a hug like nobody else, I will miss those. ❤️ Tee

  9. I have so many of my little “brother”.
When George was six years old I was nine he couldn't wait until I got home from school so that we could wrestle. We loved to climb trees together. We always laughed and had fun! Buzz and I loved our many vacations together, we would walk arm and arm, Brother, Helen, Buzz and myself. Cherished memories. See you soon little brother! ❤️Bonnie

  10. I have many fond memories of George. We always had a fun time and made many great memories. Us kids loved riding in the back of his pick up truck and would talk to him through the intercom. His smile would light up a room. I was blessed to have him in my life. Rest in Peace George.

  11. Dear Helen and Family, You have my deepest sympathy and love in this time of loss. My husband Bernhard (Bernie) and I have known George and Helen since 2001 when we moved to AZ and started to attend Red Mountain Church. I have many fond memories of Sunday School classes, trips for the seniors, and the many times we went out to lunch after church. Bernhard and George, both being Navy veterans always had lots to chat about. I pray the Holy Spirit will bring comfort to your hearts as you go through this new journey of grief.
Much love and many prayers, Mary Louise Hendricksen

  12. My childhood was filled with memories of grandpa and grandma. One memory I'll always cherish was when I was fishing with grandpa. We finally got a bite after a long day of catching nothing. Grandpa was so excited for me and encouraged me as I reeled that fish into the shore. Grandpa was smiling as it came closer and he grabbed the line to take the fish off the hook. But that dang fish jumped off the hook right as grandpa was getting a grip on it. It flopped on the ground and grandpa tried to grab it. That fish flipped and flopped several times trying to make it back to the safety of the water, all the while grandpa was desperately trying to grab it. The fish made it into the water where I'm sure he thought he was safe, but here comes grandpa! He splashed into the water and continued to chase that sucker until grandpa was up to his thighs in the water and the fish had gotten away. I know grandpa wanted me to have that fish and that was all he was thinking about. That was who he was, he loved to make others, especially his family happy. He was an amazing man and I'll miss him forever.

  13. Oh grandpa, the fun we had in the outdoors. You are the reason I have such a love for camping and fishing. I will be thinking of you every time I cast a line.

  14. I will sure miss my Grandpa. Others have said it as well, but his smile will remain etched in my memory forever. It was the most loving, beautiful, comfortable smile I have ever seen. I knew he loved me without him even saying anything. He and Grandma were so fun to be around. From taking me and Julie to ride the Alpine slide at Heritage Square, to taking me out for my birthday, and lots of other moments. He will be in my heart forever. I remember him holding babies so they were standing up in his hand! How did he do that? He was enchanting. Rest in peace. I was lucky to have you. (Family, I am sorry that I wasn't able to fly out and be there. Thinking of you all.)

  15. Dad had a joy of life that was contagious and drew friends to him like a magnet! Dad was always there for us kids and helped us over the bumps of life. He left his family a wonderful legacy and example to follow. With his genuine smiles and big bear hugs, he left this world a better place. I'm thankful to have had him as my dad.

  16. George, I am going to miss you so much. I will always remember how much you treated me like your son. I will see you in heaven. I love you

  17. Grandpa loved spending time with his grandkids. He always seemed to take an interest in whatever we were doing, whether it was sports, fishing, art, or school. For me, it was computer games. He never stopped learning and loved spending time with me learning about computers. Even in recent years, I sold him a bunch of NFTs (before the crash). Thank you and I'll miss you, Grandpa!

  18. I will miss you very much Grandpa. You always treated my like your granddaughter. In fact, sometimes I think you and Grandma wouldn't have minded trading me for Jared! Spending time with you always made my day brighter. I love you!

  19. It's been a wonderful journey, learning, laughing and sharing wonderful memories together. For me like most of us, you were more than just a Grandpa or parent, but a loving and generous friend.
Each of us have many special memories and experiences with you and Grandma.
What a special legacy to have blessed so many lives and have a special ability to make us feel as though we were so special around many others.
Thank you Grandpa for showing me how to love. How to slow down and truly care about whatever is on others hearts.
You're a great example of how to lead and have an infectious joy.
I miss you my golf buddy. We sure racked up some high scores together.
Love you and know we'll keep your spirit alive in us as we love one another in grace with a smile.
Rest now in God's presence and we'll see you soon enough.

  20. Thank you for always treating me like one of your own. Your smile, laugh and hug will stay with me forever. I miss you and will always love you!

  21. You were a wonderful Father to me. You were more than my Father in law, you were my Dad. I will miss your big hugs and beautiful smile. You welcomed me into your family 49 years ago with open arms and you always made me feel loved. We had so much fun together traveling all over the world with You, Mom, Ron and I. We loved having you and Mom stay with us. You were always there for the boys as they were growing up. And a perfect example of what a Grandpa should be. Being the Godly man that you were was what set you apart from many men. Knowing you're in heaven is such a comfort to all of us. I Love you Dad and always will.
    Debbie

  22. One of my favorite memories of dad was helping him in the garage. He would holler at me to come help him. I would hold the flashlight for him when he was under the hood of the car fixing something or when he would change the brakes on the car, he would have me push on the brakes to get the air out of the lines. He taught me how to change a tire and also how change the oil in my car. He always said, the oil is the heart of a car. I will forever miss him, and he will always be my hero! I love you, Dad! Love your daughter Karen.
