George Arthur Clough passed away on the afternoon of January 20, 2005. He was 80 years old. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 5, 1924. George spent his entire career (about 35 years) with Atlantic Richfield Company as a geologist in the exploration for oil and gas. George served in the Army at the end of World War II and because of the GI bill was able to obtain a degree in Geology at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1951.

In 1958, George married Margaret Frances Hogue from Sweetwater, Texas. They had three children, George Ryan Clough, Dorothy Lynn Clough, and John Edward Clough. John passed away at the age of 7 in 1972. George and Margaret had a good marriage and enjoyed thier lives in Midland, TX, Roswell, NM, Dallas, TX, Anchorage, AK, and Denver, Colorado (most of their years were in Denver, Colorado). Margaret passed away in 2002.

George enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, gardening, reading, history and politics. Many of our fondest memories are of relaxing in his backyard where his granddaughters often received a fresh bouquet of flowers.

George is survived by his son, George R. Clough and his wife, Stephanie Hamilton Clough. He is also survived by his daughter, Dorothy Lynn Clough Berg and her husband, Chris Berg. He has three granddaughters, Cynthia Berg, Julia Clough and Katherine Clough.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2005 between 2 and 4 P.M. He will be buried next to his wife, Margaret and his son, John in Sweetwater, Texas.

He will be greatly missed.

Psalm 023 always gave George comfort during serious illness~

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
