 The earthly life of George Andrew Hergert, of Englewood, Colorado, came to an end on Friday, February 11, 2011 at around 1:30 in the afternoon (Mountain Time).  He passed away in a hospital room filled with his living family.  He was 89 years young.

 

George was preceded in death by his brothers Don, John, and Ray of Saint Peter, Minnesota, his sister Loretta, also of Saint Peter, his wife Lois of Englewood and his daughter Loretta, of Grand Junction, Colorado.  He is survived by daughters, Georganne Klein of Lakewood, Colorado married to Wally, Jacqueline “Jacqui” Dunham of Vallejo, California married to Robb, son Alan Hergert of Littleton, Colorado married to Vera, grandchildren Faith (Dunham) Mantzke married to Jurgen, Nathanael Dunham married to Mijon, Oliver Klein married to Felicia, Keffin Klein, Matthew and Rachel Hergert, great grandchildren Teah and Rodin Mantzke, Jaden and Kylie Dunham and Jordan, Matteo, Tyler, Jayce and Isabella Klein.

 

George was born July 28, 1921 in Saint Peter, Minnesota.  He was raised on a farm and was a farmer before moving to Littleton in 1952.  In Colorado, he had a myriad of jobs including school bus driver, factory worker and concrete form setter.

 

George was in good health until about June of 2010 when he started to slow down.  He was on the MallyCats softball team and also bowled on a Friday afternoon senior league at Broadway Bowl.  He was a former member of the Denver Kickers Sports Club.  He loved to fish, to garden, ballooning, to travel and spending time with his family.  He liked to watch the Denver Broncos with his son and listen to the Colorado Rockies in the summer.

 

You are invited to join us, Friday, February 18, 2011, as we celebrate Dad’s life with a Rosary and Funeral Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church, 3301 South Sherman Street in Englewood.

 

The Rosary will be at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass immediately following (around 9:20 a.m.)  Dad will be laid to rest next to his sweetheart and lovely bride, Lois, on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Hampden Cemetery, 8600 E. Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80231.

 

Visitation/viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 17 at the Bullock Colonial Chapel, 1375 E. Hampden Avenue, Englewood, CO 80113.  Dad is resting there now.

 

Reception plans will be announced at the funeral.
