Fredric Arthur “Bud” Schroeder

Fredric Arthur “Bud” Schroeder, MD, age 81, of Englewood, CO, went to be with the Lord on Monday February 28, 2011. Fred was born on February 20, 1930, in Newton Kansas, to Irene and William Schroeder. eHe attended Bethel College and the University of Chicago Medical School, completing his internship at Colorado General (now University of Colorado Medical Center) and his residency in Chicago. Fred served in the army at Fort Carson and in Berlin from 1955-1958. He started his pediatric practice with the Vandenbosch-DeRoos clinic which became the Colorado Clinic. He later went on to open his own private pediatric practice, and served as Chief of Pediatric Staff at Porter/Swedish Hospitals. While at Porter he also served on the Peer Review committee. He was also a Board Member of the Tri-County Health Department. Fred retired from practice in 1996.

He married Luetta Bartel on June 18, 1955. They were married for 55 years.  Fred enjoyed traveling and learning, and brought his family on many road trips over the years. Fred and Lu also took each of the grandchildren on a special intergenerational trip. Fred was an avid sports fan, and was a fan of all the Colorado teams plus many more!

He is survived by his wife Luetta, his four sons, Steven (wife Patricia, children Sara and Michael), Andrew (wife Patricia children Kathryn, Tyler (Calli), Rebecca, and Meghann), Ronald (wife Barbara and children Benjamin and Haley) and David (wife Jean and children Jonathan (Kristie), Megan (Nathan), Allison, Amanda, and Amelia).  He is also survived by his brother, Widick, of Lake Forest, Illinois.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 2:00 at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd., Englewood, Colorado 80113. All are invited to celebrate Bud’s life at a reception which will follow at the Schroeder Family Home.
