 Freda June Poundstone, born November 17th,1926, passed away November 7th, 2011, surrounded by her family.
Since 1967, Freda Poundstone called
Greenwood Village her home. She was a political activist in her community, working tirelessly to prevent annexation and to create a strong community. She was a noted lobbyist and was heavily involved in the Republican Party. She served as the mayor of Greenwood Village and on the Battle Monuments Commission under President Reagan. She is most notably known for the passage of the Poundstone Amendment in 1974.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Poundstone and a son, Patrick. She was also preceded in death by two sisters (Patricia and Virginia) and her brother (Bud).
The loving mother to four daughters, Robin Kolble of Boulder, Melani Poundstone of Parker, Elizabeth Gordon of Everett, Washington and Patricia Poundstone of Centennial, one son, Christopher Poundstone of Colorado Springs and one stepson, Thomas Poundstone of Atlanta, Georgia.
Freda Poundstone was the extremely proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Christy, Cyndy, Scott, Recia, Heather,
Brandy, Jordan, Nicole, Miranda, Erin and Megan.
And a great grandmother to four great-grandchildren: Jacob, Stephanie, Jeremy and Brayden.
Besides spending time with her family, Freda spent time rescuing and placing animals in loving homes and providing for needy children.


Services will be held at the Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church on
10150 E. Belleview Avenue in Englewood on Friday November, 11th.  A 9:00 a.m. viewing followed by a 10:00 a.m. service. She will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a private family service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to
Mile High United Way or to the Colorado Humane Society.

  1. I am so sorry to have learned of Freda's passing. I worked with her very closely between 1974 – 1978 and was amazed with her dedication, energy and knowledge of all facets of the issues in which we were involved. She will be missed and remembered in cherished moments.
